What is Venelex?

Venelex is used for treating skin injuries, bedsores, and diabetic ulcers. It can also be used to treat other conditions that are caused by decreased blood flow.

Venelex reduces odors and forms a protective barrier over wounds.Venelex can be used in other ways not mentioned in the medication guide.

Side effects of Venelex

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergy: difficulty breathing, hives, or swelling in your lips, face, throat, tongue, or mouth, seek emergency medical attention.

Venelex side effects may include:

  • There may be mild burning or stinging where the medication is applied.

Before you take this drug

Venelex should not be used if you have an allergy to balsam Peru (castor seed oil) or petroleum jelly (Vaseline).

Consult your doctor if you're pregnant or nursing before taking this medication.Venelex should not be used on children without consulting a doctor.

How to take Venelex?

Follow the instructions on the packaging or those prescribed by your physician.Take it only by mouth. Topical medicines are only to be used on the skin.After applying the medicine, wash your hands.Use a thin film of the medicine on the injury. Castor and balsam peru are usually applied twice daily. Please follow your doctor's advice.

You can cover the area with bandages or let it air dry after applying medicine. You will be told by your doctor whether or not you need to cover the wound.You can remove medicine by gently washing it with water.

If the condition that you're treating does not improve or worsens while using this medication, call your doctor.Keep medicine at room temperature and away from direct heat or moisture. Keep the medication away from heat and moisture.

What happens if I miss the dose?

If you are close to your next dose, skip the missed one. Never apply two doses at once.

What happens if I overdose?

Overdoses of castor and balsam in Peru are not dangerous. If anyone accidentally swallows the medication, seek emergency medical care or contact the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222.

Avoid this

Venelex can cause irritation to the eyes. Rinse them with water.Do not use other medicines on areas that you have treated with castor and balsam Peru unless you are told to by your doctor.

Interaction with other drug

Other drugs that you take are unlikely to affect the medicine applied to your skin. Many drugs interact. Inform your health care providers of all the medicines that you take, including prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbs.
