What is Recarbrio?

Recarbrio is a combination of medicines used to treat infections in the abdomen or urinary tract.Recarbrio can also be used to treat pneumonitis (a lung infection) caused by being hospitalized or using a respirator.Recarbrio can be used by adults with few or no treatment options.Recarbrio can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of Recarbrio

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, or throat.

Recarbrio may cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • Tremors;
  • A seizure;
  • Severe stomach pain, bloody or watery diarrhea (even months after the last dose).

Recarbrio can cause the following side effects:

  • Increased blood pressure
  • Nausea, diarrhea, vomiting;
  • Abnormal liver function tests
  • Fever;
  • Headache
  • Pain, bruising, or swelling where the medicine has been injected

Warnings

Diarrhea can be an indication of a new illness. If you have watery diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, call your doctor.

Before you take this drug

Recarbrio should not be used if you have an allergy to imipenem or cilastatin.

Inform your doctor if you experience any of these symptoms:

  • A seizure;
  • A stroke;
  • Penicillin or other antibiotic medications can cause an allergic reaction.

Tell your doctor whether you're pregnant or breastfeeding.

How to take Recarbrio?

This medication is administered as an intravenous infusion. This injection will be given by a healthcare provider.Even if you feel better quickly, it is important to continue taking this medication for the prescribed time. You can increase the risk of developing an infection resistant to medications if you skip doses.Recarbrio does not treat a virus, such as the flu, or a cold.

What happens if I miss the dose?

You are unlikely to miss a Recarbrio dose if you receive it in a clinic setting.If you missed a dose of your infusions, call your doctor to get instructions.

What happens if I overdose?

Call 1-800-222-1222 to get poison help. Or, seek immediate medical attention.

What should be avoided?

Antibiotics can cause diarrhea. This could be an indication of a new illness. Call your doctor if you have bloody or watery diarrhea before taking anti-diarrhea medication.

Interaction with other drug

You should tell your doctor about any medications you take, such as:

  • Divalproex sodium;
  • Ganciclovir
  • Valproic acid.
