Selenium sulfide is a medication that fights fungus. It stops fungus from growing on the skin.

How to take Selenium sulfide topical?

Details on dosage

Usual adult dose for seborrheic dermatitis:

Selenium sulfide shampoo topical, 2.25 percent shampoo:
repeat the treatment twice a week until symptoms are under control. In the following weeks, you should use it weekly, once every two weeks, or every 3–4 weeks. Avoid using it more often than is necessary to treat symptoms.
Selenium sulfide, a topical 1.00 shampoo:
shake thoroughly. Rinse thoroughly with shampoo. To get the best results, apply often, at least twice per week, or as recommended by a physician.
Selenium sulfide foam:
apply the cream to the affected area twice each day.
Selenium sulfide foam must be applied to the skin until it is completely absorbent.
Shake well, then invert the bottle to apply.

Usual adult dose for tinea versicolor:

Selenium sulfide, a topical 2.25 percent shampoo:
apply the cream to the affected area and massage with a tiny quantity of water. Let the cream stay there for ten minutes before washing thoroughly. Repeat the process once every seven days, or as prescribed by a doctor.
Selenium sulfide foam:
apply the cream to the affected area twice every day.
Selenium sulfide foam is best massaged into the skin until it is completely absorbent.
Shake well, and then flip over to distribute.

What happens if i miss the dose?

Take the dose you missed as soon as you can remember. If it's getting close to time to take the next dosage, wait until the time to take the medication and then skip the dose you missed. Don't apply any additional medicine to make up for the missed dose.

What happens if i overdose?

What should be avoided?

Avoid covering areas of the skin that are treated with synthetic clothing that has tight fittings that don't allow air circulation. Wear loose-fitting clothes made of cotton, as well as various other fibers that are natural, until the wound is completely healed.
