What is Robafen?

Robafen reduces chest congestion due to the common flu or chronic lung disease. Robafen is a medication that helps to loosen up congestion in the chest and throat. This makes it easier for you to cough through your mouth. There are several brands and types of guaifenesin. This leaflet does not list all brands. This medication guide does not list all possible uses of Robafen.

Side effects of Robafen

If you experience any of the following signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction: difficulty breathing, hives or swelling to lips, face, tongue or throat - seek medical assistance immediately!

Robafen side effects may include:

  • Nausea;
  • Vomiting.

Before you take this drug

If you have an allergy to Robafen, then it is best not to use this medication. If you are suffering from other medical conditions, ask your doctor or pharmacist whether it's safe to take this medication. Consult your doctor before taking this medication if you're pregnant. Breastfeeding is not recommended while taking Robafen.

How to take Robafen?

Follow the directions on the label or those prescribed by your physician. Cold and cough medications should only be taken temporarily until symptoms have subsided. Always follow the directions on the label when giving cough and cold medicines to children, and never use these remedies as sleep inducers. Measuring liquid medicine accurately is important. Use either the dosing syringe provided, or an electronic dosing device (not a kitchen spoon). Robafen Granules are easy to use - simply empty their entire packet onto your tongue, swallow quickly without chewing, and repeat as necessary. Contact your physician immediately if your symptoms don't improve within seven days or you develop fever, rash, or headaches. Robafen can alter the results of certain medical tests; inform any physician treating you that you are taking Robafen. Storage should take place at room temperature, away from moisture and heat sources, and should never freeze.

What happens if I miss a dose?

Since cough and cold medicines should only be taken when needed, your dosing schedule may vary accordingly. Any missed doses that fall close to when your next dosage should take effect should be skipped without taking two at the same time - two doses at one time may result in serious adverse side effects!

What happens if I overdose?

Seek medical assistance immediately or call the Poison Help Line on 1800222-1222 if possible.

What should be avoided?

Ask a doctor or pharmacist before using other cough or cold medicines that may contain similar ingredients. Avoid driving or hazardous activities until you know how Robafen will affect you. Your reactions could be impaired.

Interaction with other drug

Avoid taking this medicine together with medications that cause drowsiness or slow your breathing (for instance opioid medicines, muscle relaxants and medicines for anxiety or seizures). Before using any other prescription or over-the-counter medicines (e.g. Vitamins or herbal products), please seek medical advice first from either your physician or pharmacist.
