What is Lokelma?

Lokelma treats hyperkalemia in adults (high potassium levels in the blood).Lokelma is absorbed directly into the intestines.Lokelma can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of Lokelma

Seek immediate medical care if you have any of these symptoms: difficulty breathing, swelling in your face, lips, throat, or tongue.Lokelma is high in sodium, which can cause swelling or a rapid weight increase.There may be other side effects. Before you take this drug

Tell your doctor aboutany of the following:

  • Slow digestion;
  • Obstruction of the bowel, or a severe contipation.
  • Heart problems
  • If you're on a diet low in salt,

Lokelma does not enter the bloodstream and is therefore not harmful to a pregnant woman or a nursing mother. Tell your doctor if pregnant or nursing.

How to take Lokelma?

Follow the directions in the guide or instructions that comes with the medication.Sometimes, your doctor will change the dose. Take the medicine exactly as directed.Please read and follow all instructions for use that come with your medication. Ask your pharmacist or doctor if you do not understand.Your doctor will need to perform medical tests in order to determine the length of treatment you should receive with Lokelma.Keep away from moisture and heat at room temperature.Lokelma may make it more difficult for your body to absorb other medications you take orally. Take any other medications 2 hours before or after taking this medicine.

What happens if I miss the dose?

If you are almost due for your next dose, skip the missed dosage. Never take two doses of the same medicine at once.

What should be avoided?

Follow your doctor's instructions if he or she prescribes restrictions on food, drink, and activity.

Interaction with other drug

Lokelma may be affected by other drugs, such as vitamins and herbal remedies. Tell your doctor about all medications you take, including those you start or stop using.
