What is Lavacol?

Ethanol is an antiseptic that reduces bacteria on surfaces.Use Lavacol on the skin to reduce the risk of staph infections around the nose or on the skin.Lavacol is not an antibacterial. It should not replace any other medication prescribed by your doctor.Lavacol can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Before you take this drug

If you have an allergy to Lavacol, it is best not to use this product.If you experience nasal irritation or bleeding, do not use Lavacol around the noseIf you've ever experienced a food or medicine allergy, ask your doctor or pharmacist whether Lavacol can be used.Before using Lavacol, consult your doctor if you're pregnant or nursing. Avoid applying Lavacol in areas where the mouth of a baby could come into contact.This medicine should not be used on children younger than 2 without consulting a doctor.

How to take Lavacol?

Read all instructions or guides that come with your medication and follow all directions. Follow the directions on the label.Before each use, shake the Nozin container. Avoid touching the tip of the bottle to your skin or nose. Drop the medicine on a cotton swab, and then apply it using the swab.This medicine should only be applied to the skin inside your nostril. Do not insert the swab beyond the tip of the swab.The Nozin Popswab can only be used once. After one use, throw away the swab.Please read and follow all instructions for use that come with your medication. If you don't understand the instructions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.Lavacol should not be used by children under 12 without adult supervision.Store away from moisture, heat, and cold at a cool temperature.Lavacol can ignite. Keep away from open flames or high heat. Smoke only after the medication has dried completely on your skin.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Lavacol can be used as needed, and you might not have a regular dosing regimen. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip any missed dose. Never take two doses in one go.

What happens if I overdose?

Overdoses of ethanol topical are not dangerous. If anyone accidentally swallows the medication, call 1-800-222-1222 or seek emergency medical care.

What should be avoided?

Do not get Lavacol into your eyes or nose.

Interaction with other drug

Other drugs that you take are unlikely to affect the medicine applied to your skin. Many drugs interact with each other. Inform your healthcare provider about the medicines you take, including any prescription or over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal remedies.
