What is Gaviscon Regular Strength?

Gaviscon Regular Strength is an antacid that can lower stomach acidity. Regular strength is a combination medication that treats acid reflux, a sour or sour stomach, and an upset stomach. Regular strength can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Side Effects of Gaviscon Regular Strength

If you experience symptoms indicative of an allergic reaction, seek medical assistance immediately: hives, difficulty breathing and swelling of lips, face, tongue or throat. Dietary supplements often lead to side effects including diarrhea. There may be additional adverse side effects. How to take Gaviscon Regular Strength?

Follow the instructions on the label or those prescribed by your doctor. Before measuring a dose, shake the liquid oral suspension. Use the provided dosing device or a dose-measuring tool (not a spoon). The chewable tablet must be chewed before swallowing. Drink about 4 ounces (or other liquid) of water. Take no more than 16 chewable tablets in 24 hours. Take no more than 16 teaspoons or 8 tablespoons of liquid "extra strength" in 24 hours. If your symptoms don't improve or you experience acid reflux more than twice a week, call your doctor. You should not take this medication for more than 2 weeks unless you are told by your doctor to do so. Store away from heat and moisture at room temperature.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Regular strength is taken as needed. You may not have a regular dosing regimen. If it is almost time to take your next dose, skip any missed doses. Never take two doses in one go.

What happens if I overdose?

Call 1-800-222-1222 immediately if you suspect poisoning and seek immediate medical care.

What should be avoided?

Before taking Gaviscon Regular Strength, ask your doctor or pharmacist if you regularly take any other medications. Gaviscon Regular Strength can interfere with the absorption of other medications you take orally.

Interaction with other drug

Gaviscon Regular strength may be affected by other drugs, such as vitamins and herbal remedies. Informing your physician of all medications you are currently taking and any that have recently been introduced into your life should serve to increase his/her awareness and ensure proper medical attention can be rendered in case any adverse interactions arise.
