What is Famotidine and ibuprofen?

Famotidine works to decrease stomach acid production. Ibuprofen and similar nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) reduce hormones associated with inflammation and pain by suppressing their production. Famotidine combined with ibuprofen makes up a combination medication. Ibuprofen is used to treat the symptoms of arthritis. Famotidine reduces the risk of stomach and intestine ulcers caused by long-term ibuprofen use. Taking famotidine and ibuprofen together (Advil, Motrin) does not produce the same effects as the combination medication. This medication guide does not address all possible uses for Ibuprofen and Famotidine.
