What is Dynapen?
The penicillin antibacterial, Dynapen, fights bacteria within your body. Dynapen can be used to treat a variety of different infections, including bronchitis and pneumonia. This medication guide does not list all possible uses of Dynapen.
Side effects of Dynapen
If you experience any of the following signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction: difficulty breathing, hives or swelling to lips, face, tongue or throat - seek medical assistance immediately!
Dynapen may cause serious side effects. If you experience:

Diarrhoea that is bloody or watery; severe stomach pain

Nausea, vomiting;
-
Little or no urination
-
Unusual bleeding or bruises
-
A seizure (convulsions);
-
Sore throat, or mouth irritation or pain; a black tongue
-
Joint pain or an overall sense of unwellness could be symptoms.
Side effects of Dynapen include:

Heartburn, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea;

Blisters or ulcers on your lips, red or swollen gingivae, difficulty swallowing

Abnormal liver function tests

Before you take this drug
If you have an allergy to Dynapen or any penicillin antibiotic such as:

Amoxicillin;

Ampicillin;
-
Carbenicillin;
-
Oxacillin;

Tell your doctor about any of the following to ensure that dynapen will be safe for you:

Asthma;
-
A stomach illness (nausea, vomiting, digestive problems);

Liver disease
-
Kidney disease
-
A bleeding or blood clotting disorder;
-
A history of diarrhea due to taking anti-biotics
-
Any type of allergy history (especially cephalosporins, such as ceclor and ceftin or duricef and keflex)
This medicine is not known to harm an unborn child. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Dynapen can reduce the effectiveness of birth-control pills. Ask your doctor if you can usenon-hormonal birth control to prevent pregnancy (condoms, diaphragms with spermicide). Dicloxacillin may pass into breastmilk and harm a nursing infant. You should tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding a child. Do not administer this medicine without consulting a doctor.
How to take Dynapen?
Be wary when taking this medicine in larger or lesser doses or for an extended duration than recommended, either exceeding its recommended dosage or for more than recommended duration. Take only as directed on your prescription label - do not increase or decrease it beyond this point! Take Dynapen with an empty stomach at least one hour before or two hours after eating. This medicine should be taken with a glass of water. Avoid taking Dynapen when you are lying on your back or getting ready to go to bed. You may need to undergo frequent medical tests if you use Dynapen. This medicine may cause unexpected results in certain medical tests. Inform any doctor that you use Dynapen. Do not stop taking the medicine before it is completely cleared. You may experience symptoms before the infection has completely cleared. You may increase your chances of a second infection resistant to antibiotics if you skip doses. Dynapen does not treat a virus, such as the flu or a cold.
This medicine should not be shared with anyone else, even if the other person has similar symptoms.Store away from moisture, heat, and light at room temperature.
What happens if I miss the dose?
As soon as you recall, take the missed dose. If your next scheduled dosage is approaching, skip the missed dose. You should not take more medicine to compensate for a missed dose.
What happens if I overdose?
Call 1-800-222-1222 for poison help or seek immediate medical attention.
What should be avoided?
Antibiotics can cause diarrhea. This could be an indication of a new illness. Call your doctor if you experience diarrhea that is bloody or watery. You should only take anti-diarrhea medication if your doctor has prescribed it.
Interaction with other drug
Tell your doctor if you are taking any new medications or if you will stop taking any of your current ones.
