Brand names: include Abilify Asimtufii. Abilify Maintena Prefilled Tablets may be prescribed in Syringe, Aristada and Initio locations only.
Formulas for dosage: intramuscular powder for injection extended release (300 mg, 400 mg) intramuscular suspension extended release (1064 mg/3.9 millilitres) 441 mg/1.6 mL 662 mg/2.4 mL 675 mg/2.4 millilitres 780 mg/2.4 mL, 882 mg/3.2 millilitres, and 960 mg/3.2 mL)

What is Aripiprazole?

Abilify Maintena and Abilify Asimtufii are utilised for the adult population to help treat schizophrenia as well as bipolar disorder.Aristada is used by adults to treat schizophrenia.Aristada Initio can be utilised in conjunction with oral Aripiprazole to restart or start Aristada.Aripiprazole can also be used for reasons not mentioned in this guideline for medication.

Side effects of Aripiprazole

Contact a medical professional immediately. Aripiprazole could cause serious adverse side effects. Contact your physician immediately if you experience symptoms such as:

  • Uncontrolled muscle movements in your facial muscles (chewing, lip-smacking, mouth movement, frowning, blinking, or eye movements);
  • Experiencing strangely warm or unusually cold;
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • A seizure;
  • Feeling like you could (even when lying down);
  • Extreme nervous system reaction: very rigid (rigid) muscles with an extremely high temperature, sweating in confusion, fast or irregular heartbeats, tremors, or the sensation that you may faint;
  • Low blood cell counts -- fever chills, fatigue, mouth sores, skin sores, easy bruising unusual bleeding, pale skin, and feet being lightheaded and short of breath.
  • Indications of symptoms of fever, colds, sore throat or body aches, fatigue, loss of appetite bleeding or bruising, and
  • High blood sugar—increased thirst, more frequent urinary frequency, dry mouth, and a fruity breath smell

Common adverse effects of aripiprazole could include:

  • Being restless;
  • Pain where the medicine was injected
  • Weight gain
  • Drowsiness.

Warnings

Aripiprazole is not permitted for use by older adults suffering from dementia-related psychosis.

Before you take this drug

It is not recommended to take aripiprazole when you are sensitive to it.Speak to your doctor if you haven't taken aripiprazole before.Aripiprazole could raise the chance of dying in elderly patients suffering from psychosis relating to dementia. However, it isn't recommended for use in this situation.

Inform your doctor if you have had or have ever been diagnosed with:

  • An issue with receiving an injection within the buttocks or in the arm
  • Heart disease, stroke, and stroke are all examples of cardiovascular disease.
  • Blood pressure, or high blood pressure,
  • Hyper-blood sugar or diabetic (in the family member of you);
  • A seizure;
  • The highest cholesterol or triglycerides
  • Dehydration

The use of antipsychotic medication during the last three months of pregnancy can cause serious issues for the infant. How to take Aripiprazole?

What should be avoided?

Interaction with other drug

It is sometimes not recommended to take certain medications simultaneously. Certain medications can alter your blood levels and the other medications you take, which could create side effects or render the medications less effective.

Discuss with your doctor the medicines you are taking currently. Aripiprazole can be affected by a variety of drugs, in particular:

  • Blood pressure medication;
  • Benzodiazepine sedatives such as valium, klonopin, or xanax;
  • The bronchodilator asthma medicine
  • The cold and allergy medicine for colds or allergies (benadryl and others);
  • Medication to treat the overactive bladder;
