What is Amoxicillin and vonoprazan?

Amoxicillin, along with Vonoprazan (Voquezna Dual Pak), is an amalgam medicine that is designed to treat stomach ulcers in adults who suffer from the infection with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori).Vonoprazan and amoxicillin may be used to treat conditions that are not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of Amoxicillin and vonoprazan?

Contact emergency medical assistance. If you notice symptoms warning signs of an allergic response (hives or breathing difficulties and swelling of your throat or face) or a severe reaction to your skin (fever and sore throat, eye burning, ache, and red or purple skin eruption with peeling and blisters),Consult a doctor when you experience a severe reaction to medication that could affect various parts of your body. Symptoms may include an itch and fever, swelling of the glands, muscle pains, abnormal bruising, severe weakness, or yellowing of your eyes or skin.

Vonoprazan and amoxicillin can cause serious adverse reactions. Consult your physician immediately. If you suffer from:

  • Intense stomach pains; diarrhoea that is bloody or watery (even if it's months after the most recent dose);
  • Liver problems: swelling in your midsection or right side; stomach discomfort; lack of appetite and dark urine; clay-coloured stool; jaundice (yellowing of your eyes or skin); as well as
  • Kidney problems: swelling, urination less, and feeling tired or exhausted.

Common adverse effects of amoxicillin or vonoprazan can be:

  • Diarrhoea, stomach pain;
  • Vaginal irritation or discharge
  • Nasal stuffiness sneezing, runny nose, cough, or a sore throat

Warnings

Discuss with your doctor all other medications. Certain drugs shouldn't be used in conjunction with amoxicillin and vonoprazan.

Prior to use this drug

It is not recommended to use amoxicillin or vonoprazan in case you have an allergy to amoxicillin, vonoprazan, or similar medications like:

  • Penicillin antibiotics, such as ampicillin, Augmentin, Principen, Timentin, and Trimox; other penicillin antibiotics as well as
  • A cephalosporin antibiotic like cefdinir, cefprozil, cefuroxime, cephalexin, Duricef, Omnicef, Cefzil, Keflex, Spectracef, and others

Certain drugs shouldn't be used in conjunction with amoxicillin and vonoprazan. The treatment plan you are using could change depending on whether you also take:

  • Rilpivirine-containing products.

Tell your physician if you were ever afflicted by:

  • Kidney or liver disease.

It is unclear whether amoxicillin or vonoprazan could affect a newborn baby. Consult your physician if you are expecting or planning to be pregnant.Don't breastfeed during the use of this medication. If you use the breast pump during this period, remove the milk and don't give it to your baby for at least 2 days after the dose you last took.

How to take Amoxicillin and vonoprazan?

Follow the directions on the prescription label and read the medication guide or instructions sheets. Follow the medication precisely as prescribed.Two tablets of vonoprazan are recommended every day (in the morning as well as at night) as well as two amoxicillin capsules three times a day (in the morning, midday, and at night) in combination with or in a void of food over 14 days unless your physician recommends otherwise.Use this medication even if symptoms get better. Inadequate doses can cause your illness to become more resistant to treatment. Vonoprazan and amoxicillin won't cure the symptoms of a viral disease (the flu or a common cold).This medication can alter the outcomes of certain tests. Be sure to inform any doctor treating patients that you're using vonoprazan and amoxicillin.The use of antibiotics can cause diarrhea. Consult your physician if you are experiencing diarrhoea that is watery or bloody.Keep it at room temperature, free of heat and moisture.

Details on dosage

Usual adult dose for Helicobacter pylori infection:

Amoxicillin: 1000 mg taken orally three times per day.
Vonoprazan 20 mg, taken orally every day, twice
The duration of treatment Duration of therapy: 14 days
Use: To treat Helicobacter pylori infection.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Utilise the medicine as soon as you are able, but avoid your missed dose in case you are more than four hours late to take the dose. Don't take two doses in one go.

What should be avoided?

Interaction with other drugs

It is sometimes not safe to take certain medicines simultaneously. Certain medications can alter your blood levels and the other drugs that you are taking, which can cause more side effects or make the medications less effective.

Discuss with your physician all autres medications, which includes:

  • Anticoagulants such as dabigatran, rivaroxaban, and apixaban;
  • Insulin or oral diabetes medications (especially pioglitazone, nateglinide, repaglinide, or rosiglitazone) or the other
  • Probenecid.
