The generic name for acetaminophen is acetaminophen oral [a-SEET-a-MIN-oh-fen]

Brand names include Anacin AF (children’s Tylenol), Mapap, M-Pap, and Pharbetol.

What is Vitapap?

Vitapap can be used to relieve minor pain and reduce fever caused by colds, flu, headaches, and muscle aches. It also helps with arthritis and menstrual cramps.Vitapap can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of Vitapap

If you experience any of the following signs of an allergic reaction: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of lips, face, tongue or throat and an immediate need to seek medical help: hives.

Vitapap can cause severe skin reactions that are fatal in rare cases. This is true even if the medicine was taken before and you had no reaction. If you experience skin redness, a rash, or blisters that are peeling off and spreading, stop taking Vitapap immediately and contact your doctor.

If you notice any signs of liver disease, stop taking Vitapap immediately and contact your doctor.

  • Stomach pain (upper right corner);
  • Loss of appetite
  • Tiredness, itching;
  • Dark urine and clay-coloured stool
  • Jaundice

Warnings

Before you take this drug

Vitapap should not be taken if you are allergic to this medication or if other medicines that contain Vitapap are being taken.

If you have ever suffered from liver cirrhosis or you consume alcohol regularly, ask your doctor or pharmacist whether Vitapap can be used safely.Consult your doctor before taking this medication if you're pregnant or nursing.

How to take Vitapap?

Use the product exactly as directed by the manufacturer or your doctor. A Vitapap overdose can damage your liver or cause death.

  • Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age: Do not exceed 1000 milligrammes per dose or 4000 mg within 24 hours.
  • Vitapap for children younger than 12: Do not exceed 5 doses in 24 hours.

Don't give Vitapap with extra strength to children younger than 12 without consulting a doctor.

The dose for a child is determined by their age and weight. Follow the instructions for use provided with this medication. Before giving this medicine to children younger than 2 years old, consult a doctor.

Vitapap for babies comes with a medicine dropper or an oral syringe. Overdosing can occur if you use the wrong measuring device. Only use the dosing device that is provided to measure a dose for an infant.

Vitapap is available in many forms, including capsules, liquids, disintegrating or chewable tablets, powders and granules that dissolve, or even dissolving powders. Please read and follow all instructions for use that come with your medicine. If you need assistance, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

If you notice:

  • After two days, you still have a swollen throat.
  • You still have a high temperature after using the product for 3 days.
  • You still feel pain after using the product for 7 days (or 5 days if you are treating a child);
  • You have a persistent headache, nausea or vomiting, or redness or swelling on your skin.

Vitapap can cause false readings on certain glucose meters. Ask your doctor how to best monitor your blood glucose levels if you have diabetes.Store away from heat, moisture, and heat at room temperature.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Vitapap should be used only when necessary. You should not take any missed doses if you have a regular dosing regimen. Never use two doses in one go.

What happens if I overdose?

Call the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222 or seek emergency medical care. Overdoses can be deadly.Vomiting, stomach pain, and yellowing skin or eyes are all symptoms of an overdose.

What should be avoided?

Vitapap should not be mixed with other medications.Avoid alcohol consumption.

Interaction with other drug

Vitapap may be affected by other drugs, such as prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Inform your doctor of all the other medications you take.
