What is Vicks Sinex Severe with vapocool?

Oxymetazoline shrinks the blood vessels of the nasal passages.Nasal congestion may be caused by dilation of blood vessels.Vicks Sinex Severe with vapocool is used to temporarily relieve nasal congestion caused by allergies or the cold.This medication guide does not list all possible uses for Vicks Sinex Severe and vapocool.

Side effects of Vicks Sinex Severe and vapocool

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of your lips, face, tongue, or throat.

Vicks Sinex Severe may cause serious side effects. Vicks Sinex Severe vapocool may cause serious side effects.

  • Symptoms that persist or worsen;
  • After using nasal spray, you may experience severe burning or stinging.
  • Chest pain is characterized by a fast or irregular heartbeat.
  • Feeling short of breath, having a severe headache, or buzzing in the ears

Some of the common side effects that Vicks Sinex Severe and vapocool can cause include:

  • A mild stinging or burning of the nose
  • Sneezing
  • Runny nose

Warnings

Vicks Sinex Severe (for the nose) is used to temporarily relieve nasal congestion due to allergies or a common cold.If you experience severe burning in your nose or persistent symptoms after using Vicks Sinex Severe, call your doctor immediately.

Take this medication only if you have been prescribed it.

If you have an allergy to vapocool, do not use Vicks Sinex Severe.

If you have any other medical conditions or concerns, ask your doctor or pharmacist whether it's safe to take the medicine.

  • Diabetes;
  • A thyroid disorder,
  • Urination or prostate problems

FDA pregnancy class C There is no information on whether Vicks Sinex Severe with vapocool can harm an unborn child. If you plan to get pregnant or are already pregnant, tell your doctor.

There is no way to know if oxymetazoline nasal can pass into breast milk or if it will harm a baby who is nursing. You should tell your doctor if your baby is breastfed.

How to take Vicks Sinex Severe vapocool?

Do not exceed the recommended dosage or duration. Use the recommended dose and do not exceed it.If you use the medication for too long or too frequently, it may cause your nasal congestion to improve and then return.If your symptoms persist after three days of treatment, call your doctor.

You should not share your medication with anyone else, even if you both have the same symptoms. The virus can be spread by sharing a nasal spray.

Use the nasal solution (nose drops):

  • Blow your nose softly. Lean your head as far back as you can or hang your head from the side of your bed. Place the correct amount of drops in your nose by holding the dropper above your nose.
  • Sit up, bend your head forward slightly, and then gently move it left and right. For a few moments, keep your head bowed forward while seated.
  • After using the nasal drops, avoid sneezing and blowing your nose.

How to use nasal spray

  • Blow your nose softly. Insert the bottle tip into one nostril while keeping your head up. Close the other nostril with your finger. Inhale quickly and spray the medicine gently into your nose. Use the spray on your other nostril.
  • After using nasal spray, do not blow your nose.

Use the nasal spray no more than twice in 24 hours.Do not use soap or water to wash the spray bottle tip.Store away from moisture or heat at room temperature.Store at room temperature, away from moisture and heat sources. When not in use, keep the bottle tightly sealed.

What happens if I miss the dose?

As soon as you recall, take the missed dose. If your next scheduled dosage is approaching, skip the missed dose. You should not take extra medicine to compensate for a missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

If anyone accidentally swallows the medication, seek emergency medical care or call Poison Help at 1-800-222-1222.

Keep Vicks Sinex Severe with vapocool away from children. Certain nasal medications may cause serious medical issues in young children who accidentally swallow or suck on the medicine.

Avoid this

If your doctor prescribes any restrictions regarding food, beverage, or activity, follow their instructions.

Interaction with other drug

If you also use any of these drugs, ask your doctor or pharmacist whether it's safe to take Vicks Sinex Severe and vapocool together.

  • An antidepressant—amitriptyline, clomipramine, desipramine, doxepin, imipramine, nortriptyline;
  • Ergot medicine—ergotamine, dihydroergotamine, ergonovine, methylergonovine; or
  • An MAO inhibitor—isocarboxazid, linezolid, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, and tranylcypromine.

Vicks Sinex Severe and vapocool may interact with other drugs. Inform your doctor of all the medications you take. Included are prescription, over-the-counter, vitamin, and herbal products. Never start a new medicine without consulting your doctor.
