Instructions for the use of the applicator

  • Take a single applicator off.
  • Remove the plastic wrap, and then remove the applicator from the wrap. If, after opening the package, you find that the insert has slipped through the applicator but isn't completely out of the packaging, then carefully place it back in the applicator to be inserted. Be sure to keep your hands clean and dry when manipulating the insert.
  • Make sure to hold the applicator in a position where the fingers on one hand can push the plunger on the applicator.
  • Then, choose the ideal place for vaginal inserting of vagifem vaginal inserts that is most comfortable for you, e.g., sitting or reclining.
  • With another hand, you can guide the applicator slowly and gently into the vein. If, prior to inserting the insert, it is pushed off the applicator, discard the applicator, insert it out, and get an applicator with a new insert.
  • The applicator must be placed (without pressing) as close to your vagina as is feasible, or until 50% of your applicator has been inserted into the vagina, or less.
  • After the applicator filled with inserts is placed in the insertion area, gently press the plunger until it is completely removed. The insert will be ejected into your vagina, which will then dissolve over a period of time.
  • After pressing on the plunger to release it, slowly take off the applicator and discard it in the same way you would dispose of an applicator made of plastic. The applicator will be of no longer use and must be removed from the trash in a proper manner. Insertion can be performed at any time during the day. It is recommended to do it at the same time every day for all vagifem vaginal implants. If you have questions, it is advisable to speak to your physician or pharmacist.
