The class of drug: miscellaneous coagulation modifiers

What is Tavalisse?

Tavalisse is part of a class of drugs referred to as spleen tyrosine kinase inhibitors. It increases the number of platelets that are present in the blood. Tavalisse helps treat chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), a bleeding condition in which the number of a particular kind of blood cell (platelets) is less than normal. Tavalisse is administered when other treatments have not worked. It isn't known whether the medicine has been proven safe or effective for children.

Tavalisse may raise blood pressure, occasionally to levels that are dangerous. Fostamatinib can also trigger liver issues as well as extreme diarrhea and infections.

Tavalisse could make you more likely to develop infections or increase the severity of any existing infections. Beware of contact with people who suffer from infections that could cause infection in other people (such as measles, chickenpox, and flu). Contact your doctor if you are exposed to a disease.

Contact your physician for headaches, chest discomfort, breathlessness, severe discomfort in the stomach, heat, or a sore throat.
