What is Symfi lo?

Symfi lo is a combination of antiviral medicines that are used to treat the human immunodeficiency virus (hiv). Hiv is a virus that causes acquired immune deficiency syndrome. Symfi lo should not be used as a cure for hiv or aids. Symfi can be used by adults and children weighing at least 88 pounds. Symfi lo is intended for adults and children weighing at least 77 pounds. Symfi lo may be used in other ways not mentioned in this medication guide.

Side effects of Symfi lo

If you experience symptoms of an allergic response (hives or difficulty breathing, swelling on your face or in your throat), or a severe reaction to the skin (fever or sore neck, or burning in your eye, or skin pain or blistering, or a red or purple rash that is spreading and blistering, or skin that has a rash or skin rash), seek emergency medical attention.

Symfi lo may have serious side effects. If you experience:

  • Severe dizziness or drowsiness; trouble concentrating; strange dreams;
  • This medicine can cause confusion, mental problems, and the hearing or seeing of things that aren't real.
  • If you feel dizzy or faint, your heart may be fluttering.
  • Problems with coordination or balance;
  • New or worsening pain in the bones

  • Lactic acidosis: unusual muscular pain; difficulty breathing; nausea; stomach pain or vomiting; an irregular heartbeat; dizziness; or feeling tired or weak;
  • Pancreatitis: severe pain spreading from your upper stomach to your back and nausea;
  • Unusual feelings: fear, paranoia, hopelessness or sadness and thoughts of harming yourself or others may arise.
  • Liver problems: swollen abdomen, pain in the upper stomach, unusual fatigue, loss of appetite, and dark urine

Symfi can affect your immune system and cause side effects. These may occur even weeks or months after taking this medication. You should tell your doctor if:

  • Signs of an infection include fever, night sweats, and swollen lymph glands. Cold sores. Coughing, wheezing, or diarrhea. Weight loss.
  • If you have difficulty speaking or swallowing, have problems with balance, eye movements, or weakness, or feel prickly, then it could be a sign of a problem.
  • Impotence, menstrual irregularities, and swelling of the neck or throat

Side effects of symfi lo may include:

  • Headache, dizziness;
  • Thinking problems;
  • Nausea, diarrhea;
  • Sleep problems (insomnia);
  • Pain;
  • Weakness, tiredness;
  • Cough, stuffy nose, and sinus pain
  • Rash;
  • Changes in the shape or location (especially of your arms, legs, and breasts), as well as changes in the amount of body fat.

Warnings

After stopping this medication, if you have ever had hepatitis b, it could become active or worsen. You may require frequent liver function testing for several months. You should not stop taking the medicine or change your dosage without consulting your doctor.

Before you take this drug

This medicine should not be used if you:

  • You may also need to take elbasvir or grazoprevir for hepatitis c.
  • Are you allergic to antivirals that contain efavirenz, lamivudine or tenofovir?

Tell your doctor about any of the following:

  • Hepatitis (especially b or c);
  • Kidney disease (or dialysis if you have it);
  • Heart problems
  • Long-qt syndrome
  • Drug or alcohol abuse;
  • A seizure;
  • Fractures or other bone problems.

You can develop lactic acidosis. This is a dangerous accumulation of lactic acids in your blood. It may be more common if you're obese or if you are female. Consult your doctor to determine your risk. Before starting the treatment, you may need a negative pregnancy result. Do not use this medication if you're pregnant. This medicine could cause birth defects or harm to the unborn child. Use birth control during treatment and for 12 weeks following your last dose.

Prevent pregnancy by using two birth control methods. These include a barrier such as a diaphragm or cervical cap. Your name could appear on a registry for pregnant women to keep track of how a medicine affects your baby. Breast-feeding is not recommended for women with hiv/aids. Even if the baby was born hiv-free, the virus can be transmitted to the infant through your breast milk.

How to take Symfi lo?

Read all instructions or guides that come with your medication and follow all directions. Follow the directions on the label. Symfi lo is an antiviral regimen that should not be used with any other antiviral medication. Take this medication before bedtime on an empty stomach.

You may need to have frequent liver tests for several months after stopping this medication if you have ever been infected with hepatitis b. For several months following your last dose, you may require frequent liver tests.

What happens if i miss the dose?

If it is close to time for your next dose, skip any missed one and do not double up on any medication at the same time. Refill your prescription before you run out.

What should be avoided?

Avoid consuming or drinking any products that contain sorbitol, an artificial sweetener. Do not drive or engage in hazardous activities until you have determined how the medicine will affect you. You may be unable to react properly.

Interaction with other drug

Take care when taking medications together as taking certain drugs in combination can increase your risk of side effects or cause other adverse reactions. Medications less effective.
