What is Robitussin Max Strength Severe?

acetaminophen relieves pain and lowers the fever. Diphenhydramine acts as an antihistamine. Phenylephrine works as a decongestant.     Robitussin max strength severe contains a combination of medicines that treat symptoms associated with colds and flu, such as sneezing and runny noses. It also treats coughs and sore throats. You can buy acetaminophen, diphenhydramine, and phenylephrine in many different brands and forms. This leaflet does not list all brands. This medication guide does not list all possible uses for robitussin maximum strength severe.

Side effects of Robitussin Max Strength Severe

If you notice symptoms indicative of an allergic reaction such as hives, difficulty breathing or swelling to your face, lips or throat - seek medical help immediately! Acetaminophen can cause severe skin reactions that are fatal. This may happen even if you've taken it before and never had a reaction. Call your doctor immediately if the skin becomes red or you develop a rash. If blisters form and you peel them off, stop taking this medication.

This medicine can cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • Severe sleepiness
  • Urination that is painful or difficult
  • Dizziness, trouble sleeping, nervousness,
  • Liver problems: loss of appetite, pain in the upper right corner of the stomach, tiredness, itchiness, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice

Robitussin: maximum strength severe side effects may include:

  • Drowsiness;
  • Dry eyes and blurred vision
  • dry mouth, nose, or throat
  • constipation
  • Feeling restless or excited, especially in children

Warnings

Please refrain from taking this medication within the past 14 days if you have taken an mao inhibitor in that time, since a potentially hazardous drug interaction could occur. Mao inhibitors include isocarboxazid (linezolid), phenelzine (rasagiline), selegiline (tranylcypromine), rasagiline, etc. Respect all instructions regarding how to take this medicine.  Overdosing on acetaminophen may damage your liver or even cause death. A diphenhydramine overdose can cause serious heart problems, seizures, or even death. This medicine is not intended to be used by children younger than 12 years of age. When taking acetaminophen, drinking alcohol can increase the risk of liver damage. If you notice skin redness, a rash, or blisters that are peeling off and spreading, stop taking the medicine immediately and contact your doctor.

Before you take this drug

If you've ever suffered from liver disease or drink more than three alcoholic drinks per day, you should consult a doctor prior to taking acetaminophen. If you have taken a mao inhibitor within the last 14 days, do not take this medication. It is possible that a dangerous drug interaction will occur. Mao inhibitors are isocarboxazid (linezolid), phenelzine (phenelzine), rasagiline (selegiline), and tranylcypromine.

Have you experienced any of these:

  • Asthma, or copd, is coughing with mucus or coughing due to smoking, emphysema, or chronic bronchitis.
  • Liver disease
  • heart disease, high blood pressure
  • Urination or prostate problems
  • A thyroid disorder
  • diabetes;
  • glaucoma;
  • A condition for which you are taking warfarin. (coumadin or jantoven).

Consult your doctor before taking this medication if you're pregnant or nursing.

How to take Robitussin Max Strength Severe?

Follow the directions on the label or those prescribed by your physician. Cold and cough medicines should only be taken temporarily until symptoms have improved or disappeared completely. Don't take more than the recommended dose. Overdosing on acetaminophen may damage your liver or even cause death. A diphenhydramine overdose can cause serious heart problems, seizures, or even death. Robitussin: maximum strength severe is not recommended for children under 12 years of age. Follow the directions on the label when giving a medicine to a young child. Do not use this medicine to put a child to sleep. Misuse of antihistamines can lead to a very young child's death.

Measuring liquid medicine is important. Use the provided dosing device or a dose-measuring tool (not a spoon). One packet of powder should be dissolved in 4 ounces or more of water. Mix this mixture well and consume it immediately. If you have a sore or persistent throat, call your doctor. Also, if you have a headache, nausea, vomiting, or skin rash, if you have not improved after 3 days or still have pain, a stuffy nose, or a cough, stop taking the medicine and consult your doctor. (this applies to children.) Call your doctor as soon as your symptoms worsen or if there is any swelling or redness. Tell your doctor or surgeon, if you have recently taken this medication and will need medical testing or surgery. Store in an environment with temperature, moisture and light-control conditions at a room temperature.

What happens if i miss the dose?

You may not have a schedule for taking robitussin max strength severe, as it is taken when needed. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip any missed dosage and wait. Never take two doses in one go.

What happens if i overdose?

What should be avoided?

Do not drive or engage in hazardous activities until you have determined how the medicine will affect you. You may be unable to react properly. Before using any other medication that contains acetaminophen or diphenhydramine, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Included are medicines used to treat pain, fevers, swellings, cold or flu symptoms, or anti-itch creams applied directly to the skin. An overdose of acetaminophen and diphenhydramine may be fatal. If you are taking this medication, drinking alcohol can increase the risk of liver damage.

Interaction with other drug
