What is Risaquad?

Risaquad, or a naturally occurring bacteria in the body, is found primarily in the intestines. This medicine is used as a "friendly bacteria" or probiotic. Risaquad is used in alternative medicine to treat diarrhea among children who have rotavirus. Risaquad is used in alternative medicine to prevent diarrhea due to antibiotics or other factors such as travel, chemotherapy, or hospitalization. This medicine may also be effective for treating irritable intestinal syndrome and bacterial vaginal infections. It is also possible that it will treat colic among babies, lung infections in children, and skin problems in those who are allergic. Risaquad is also used to treat lactose intolerance and Crohn’s disease. It can also be used to treat overgrowth of bacteria or yeast infections in the vaginal area caused by antibiotics. Research has shown, however, that risaquad may not be as effective at treating these conditions.

Research has not shown that it is effective in treating other conditions, such as indigestion, urinary infections, intestinal problems for premature babies, high blood cholesterol, lyme, cold sores and acne, cancer, or the common cold. Risaquad may not be effective for treating all medical conditions. The FDA has not approved the use of this product for medical purposes. This medicine is not intended to replace medication prescribed by your doctor. Risaquad can be sold as an herbal supplement. Many herbal compounds are not manufactured to regulated standards, and some supplements on the market have been found to be contaminated with toxic drugs or metals. To minimize risk, herbal or health supplements must be obtained from an authoritative source. Risaquad can be used in other ways not mentioned in the product guide.
