Before using Poly-Vi-Flor that contains iron, be sure to inform your physician about any medical issues or allergies.
It is unclear if this medication could affect a newborn baby. Inform your doctor if you are expecting or planning to be pregnant. Your dose needs may be different during pregnancy. Multivitamins containing fluoride and iron could be absorbed by the breast milk and harm the nursing infant. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding a baby. How to take Poly-Vi-Flor with iron?
Follow all the instructions on the prescription label. Don't take this medicine in greater or lesser quantities or for longer than prescribed. Do not take this medicine without a doctor's guidance. You can take your medicine by drinking an entire cup of fluid. The tablet that you chew must be chewed prior to swallowing it. Don't give a chewable tablet to a child under 4 years of age. You should take the missed dose as soon as you can remember. Avoid any missed doses if it's close to the time of your next dose. Do not take any additional medicine to make up for the missed dose.

What should be avoided?
Beware of other multivitamins and mineral supplements that contain iron. In excess, iron can result in serious medical issues.
Calcium can make it difficult for the body to take in the iron-rich nutrients found in Poly-ViFlor for at least 2 hours prior to or two hours following the time you have taken Poly-ViFlor that contains iron.
- Don't drink milk or consume dairy foods, and
- Don't consume calcium supplements or an antacid that contains calcium.
Do not take any multivitamin supplement unless your doctor advises you to.
It is important to ensure that a child taking this medicine isn't ingesting extra amounts of fluoride through taking toothpaste in their mouths or drinking from sources with sufficient amounts of fluoride.
Interaction with other drugs
Other medications can interfere with multivitamins containing ferrous as well as fluoride, which includes medications that are prescribed and available over the counter, such as vitamins and herbs. Be sure to inform your health professionals about any medications you take currently and all medicines that you decide to stop or change your use of.
