What is Phexxi?

Phexxi includes a mix of citric acid, lactic acid, and potassium bitartrate. Phexxi is a demand-based method for birth control that doesn't contain hormones. It doesn't hinder pregnancy when used following vaginal sexual contact.

Phexxi is part of a group of contraceptives known as non-hormonal. It works by lowering the vagina's pH as well as decreasing the motility of sperm. Phexxi is a drug that can be used in conjunction with different methods for birth control (including diaphragms, condoms, birth control pills, patches, implants, inserts, and injections). Phexxi can prevent pregnancy; however, it cannot stop the spread of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), which is the virus responsible for acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS), as well as other sexually transmitted illnesses. Beware of using this medicine in conjunction with the vaginal ring.
