What is Moderna COVID-19 Bivalent Vaccine PF?
COVID-19, a severe disease caused by a coronavirus known as SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2), is an illness that can be fatal. COVID-19 can be spread by air.
The COVID-19 virus can cause damage to your lungs and other organs. The symptoms can be mild to severe and may include chills, fever, cough, sore neck, fatigue, body aches or headaches, a loss of smell or taste, a runny or stuffy nose, nausea, or vomiting.
The COVID-19 bivalent vaccine is used for the prevention of severe illness and death caused by COVID-19, which is SARS-CoV-2.
Moderna, a bivalent vaccination approved by the FDA for use in emergency situations, is available to people aged 6 and over.
COVID-19 is not a coronavirus. It cannot cause COVID-19. The vaccine does not work to treat COVID-19 infections that are active.
COVID-19, like any other vaccine, may not protect everyone.
Side effects of Moderna COVID-19 Bivalent Vaccine PF
If you experience any of the following symptoms: itching, skin rash, dizziness, or weakness; rapid heartbeats; difficulty breathing; swelling on your lips, face, tongue, or throat; and/or you are experiencing any of these signs, seek emergency medical attention.
You may be watched by your vaccination provider for a few minutes after the shot to ensure you do not have an allergic response. If you experience a reaction soon after receiving the vaccination, you will receive immediate treatment.
If you had an allergic reaction to the COVID-19 vaccination, then this should be avoided. You will be able to receive the vaccine safely if your doctor or provider of vaccination determines that you are safe.
All possible side effects may not be known. Infecting yourself with COVID-19 can be more harmful to your health.
Some individuals who received this vaccination experienced inflammation in the muscle of their heart or surrounding it days after receiving it; however, risks are very low; seek medical advice immediately if this side effect occurs for you.

Before you take this drug
This vaccine should not be given if you have ever experienced a severe reaction after receiving a Moderna COVID-19 vaccination.
If you're infected, waiting for test results, or exposed to someone who is infected, you may be prevented from receiving this vaccine until your symptoms have gone away and/or you finish the required quarantine. If you're infected but haven't shown any symptoms, you won’t be less contagious after receiving this vaccine.
If you have any questions about the COVID-19 treatment you've received, ask your doctor.
If you:
- You have a high temperature.
- Do you have allergies?
- You have inflammation around or in your heart (pericarditis or myocarditis).
- If you are prone to bleeding or use blood thinners (Warfarin Coumadin Jantoven),
- You have a weakened immune system due to a disease or certain medicines.
- Are You Pregnant or Planning on Conceiving?
- You've had any other COVID-19 vaccination;
- You have fainted following an injection.
How to take Moderna COVID-19 Bivalent Vaccine PF?
Please read all the vaccine information provided.
Moderna COVID-19 is a bivalent vaccine that can be given to:
- Unvaccinated persons: A single dose of Moderna COVID-19 bivalent vaccine .
- People who have already received a dose of monovalent COVID-19: A single dose of Moderna COVID-19 is given at least two months after the monovalent COVID-19.
- People 65 and older who received a dose-bivalent COVID-19 vaccination: A dose of Moderna COVID-19 bivalent vaccine can be administered at least four months after receiving the dose of bivalent COVID-19.
- Immunocompromised persons: A single dose additional to the bivalent COVID-19 Moderna vaccine, age appropriate for that person's age group, can be administered at least two months after receiving the first dose.
You will be advised by your doctor or vaccine provider if you require an extra dose.
A reminder card will be sent to you, indicating the type and date of the injection. This card should be taken with you every time you get a COVID-19 vaccination.
Use infection control measures when in public and around people who are not vaccinated. This may include social distance, hand washing, wearing protective face covers, disinfecting surfaces that you frequently touch, or not sharing your personal belongings with others.
You will not test positive for coronavirus after receiving a COVID-19 vaccination. Once your body has developed immunity against COVID-19, you may test positive for an antibody test.
The duration of protection from COVID-19 infection by this vaccine is unknown. Also, it is unknown how long immunity lasts in someone who has recovered after being infected by COVID-19. COVID-19 is a vaccine that's still under study, and its full risks have not been determined.
What happens if I miss the dose?
If you missed your bivalent dosage, contact your vaccine provider or the health department.
What happens if I overdose?
It is highly unlikely that this vaccine will lead to any form of overdosing.
What should be avoided?
Do not receive any other vaccinations before consulting a doctor.
Interaction with other drug
Tell your provider of vaccination about any other vaccines and medicines that you are taking. You can include prescription medicines, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbs.
