What is Mirvetuximab Soravtansine?

Mirvetuximab Soravtansine can be used for adults who have ovarian carcinoma, fallopian tube cancer, or primary peritoneal cancer. They must also not respond to platinum-based chemotherapy.

You will be tested by your doctor to ensure that mirvetuximab is right for you.

Side Effects of Mirvetuximab Soravtansine

If you experience any of the following signs and symptoms of an allergy: difficulty breathing, hives, lips, face, throat or tongue swelling then contact your healthcare provider immediately.

Mirvetuximab Soravtansine can cause severe side effects. If you experience:

  • Dry eyes, light sensitivity, blurred vision, or eye pain
  • Shortness of breath, coughing, chest pain,
  • You may experience tingling or burning in the hands and feet.

Some of the common side effects associated with mirvetuximab Soravtansine include:

  • Abnormal lab results;
  • Nausea, stomach pain, diarrhea, constipation;
  • A sore throat and fever are symptoms of a viral infection.
  • Pale skin, fatigue, lightheadedness, or feeling short of breath.

Warnings

If you experience any type of eye problem, such as blurred vision or eye pain, or if your vision is getting worse or has changed, call your doctor immediately.

Before you take this drug

If you or a family member have:

  • Vision or eye disorders
  • Liver problems are a serious condition.

Unborn babies may be harmed. If you're pregnant, avoid using this medication. Inform your doctor immediately if you fall pregnant.

Before starting the treatment, you may be required to take a pregnancy test.

You should not breastfeed if you are using Mirvetuximab Soravtansine, and at least one month after the last dose.

How to take Mirvetuximab Soravtansine?

Read all the instructions and directions included on the prescription label.

If you experience certain side effects, your doctor might change or delay the treatment, or even stop it permanently.

Mirvetuximab Soravtansine infusions are usually administered every three weeks. The number of cycles that you require will be determined by your doctor.

Other medications may be prescribed to prevent allergic reactions or serious side effects. Continue to take these medications as prescribed by your doctor.

It is possible that you will need to have frequent eye exams.

You may be prescribed eye drops by your doctor before or during treatment with Mirvetuximab Soravtansine. Use these eye drops as prescribed by your doctor.

What happens if I miss the dose?

If you are unable to keep your appointment, call your doctor and ask for further instructions.

What happens if I overdose?

A medical environment would treat an overdose quickly.

What should be avoided?

Contact lenses should not be worn while taking mirvetuximab or soravtansine unless you are told to by your doctor.

Interaction with other drug

Inform your doctor of all medications you are currently taking. Mirvetuximab Soravtansine can be affected by many drugs, including:

  • Nefazodone;
  • Cancer medicine—ceritinib, idelalisib, ribociclib, tucatinib;
  • An antibiotic—clarithromycin, telithromycin;
  • Antifungal medicine: itraconazole, ketoconazole, posaconazole, and voriconazole;
  • Antiviral medicines for HIV or Hepatitis C boceprevir, cobicistat, dasabuvir, Elvitegravir, indinavir, Lopinavir, and Ritonavir.
