What is PediaTan?
PediaTan can be described as an antihistamine that decreases the effects of the natural chemical histamine within the body. Histamine may cause symptoms such as coughing, itching, watery eyes, and a running nose.
PediaTan can be used for treating a runny nose, itching, sneezing, and watery eyes caused by allergies, commonly-assisted colds, and influenza.
PediaTan could also be used to treat conditions that are not covered in this guideline.
Side effects of PediaTan
See a doctor immediately. If you experience any of the following symptoms that indicate reactions to an allergen: hives; trouble breathing; or swelling of your lips, face, or tongue.
PediaTan could cause severe adverse consequences. Stop taking PediaTan and contact your doctor immediately if you suffer from:
- Heart rate that is irregular or fast;
- Mood shifts;
- Tremor, seizure (convulsions);
- Bleeding or bruising that is easy, bleeding, unusual weakness
- Being breathless; feeling breathless;
- Very little or no urination.
Common adverse effects of PediaTan could include:
- Dizziness, drowsiness;
- Dry the nose, mouth, or throat;
- Constipation;
- Blurred vision
- Being anxious or uneasy.

Warnings
Always consult a physician prior to giving a cold or cough medicine to children. Death can occur due to the misuse of cough and cold medications when children are very young.
Do not take PediaTan if you suffer from angle-of-sight glaucoma, a blockage of your stomach or intestines, an enlarged prostate, are not able to urinate, or are experiencing an asthma attack.
Before you take this drug
It is not recommended to use PediaTan if you have an allergy to it or suffer from any of the following:
- Narrow-angle glaucoma;
- A blockage in your stomach or in your intestines
- Prostate cancer;
- If you're unable to urinate
- If you're experiencing asthma attacks.
Speak with a pharmacist or doctor about whether it is appropriate for you to use PediaTan if you suffer from:
- A blockage in the digestive tract (stomach and intestines) or the bowels or stomach, the colostomy or ileostomy
- Kidney or liver disease;
- Asthma, COPD asthma or COPD, cough that is mucus, or a cough that is due to smoke, emphysema, chronic asthma, or chronic bronchitis;
- High blood pressure, heart disease, coronary artery disease, or a recent cardiac attack;
- Epilepsy or any other seizure disorder
- Urination issues;
- Pheochromocytoma (an adrenal gland tumor)
- Thyroid that is hyperactive.
FDA classification for pregnant women A. PediaTan is not expected to harm a baby who is not yet born. Do not take this medication without a doctor's approval if you're pregnant.
Chlorpheniramine can be absorbed into the milk of a nursing baby and could harm the infant. Antihistamines could cause a decrease in breast milk production. Do not take this medicine unless you have your doctor's advice if you are breastfeeding an infant.
Artificially sweetened cold medicines may contain phenylalanine. If you suffer from phenylketonuria (PKU), look over the label of your medicine to see whether it contains phenylalanine.
How to take PediaTan?
Take it exactly as indicated on the label or as recommended by your physician. Do not take it in larger quantities, in smaller amounts, or for a longer period than is prescribed. PediaTan is usually used only for a brief period of time until symptoms improve.
Do not take it for more than seven consecutive days. Consult your physician in the event that your symptoms don't improve after seven days of treatment or if you experience a fever, headache, or skin eruption.Do not chew, crush, or break an extended-release tablet. Take it in whole. In the event of breaking the pill, it could result in too much drug being released simultaneously.
Measure the liquid medicine using a spoon that is specifically designed for measuring doses, such as a medicine cup, and not with an ordinary tablespoon. If you don't have a device for measuring doses, inquire with your pharmacist about getting one.
Always consult a physician before distributing medicine for a cold or cough to children. Death can occur due to the misuse of cold or cough medicine by very young children.If you require an operation or tests for medical reasons, inform the doctor or surgeon prior to the time of your appointment if you took this medication within the last few days.
Place it in a cool, dry place far from heat and moisture. Make sure that you do not let the liquid version of this medicine become frozen.
What happens if I miss the dose?
Because this medication is only taken whenever needed, you might not be on a regular dosing schedule. If you're taking the medication on a regular basis, you should take the missed dose immediately when you remember. Do not take your missed dose if you are nearing the time for the next dose. Don't take any extra medication to make up for the missed dose.
What happens if I overdose?
Get medical attention in an emergency or contact the poison help line at 1-800-222-1222.

What should be avoided?
PediaTan can cause blurred vision or affect your reaction or thinking. Be aware if you drive or engage in activities that require the driver to remain conscious and in a position to clearly see.Alcohol consumption can cause an increase in the effects of chlorpheniramine in certain ways.
Consult a physician or pharmacist prior to taking any other cough, cold, allergy, or sleep medication. Antihistamines are found in a variety of combinations of medicines. Combining certain medications could cause you to take excessive amounts of a specific substance. Examine the label to find out if it contains an antihistamine.
Avoid getting dehydrated or too hot in the heat of exercise or high temperatures. PediaTan could reduce sweating and make you more vulnerable to suffering from heat stroke.
Interaction with other drugs
The use of PediaTan together with other medications that cause you to sleep or slow your breathing could make these effects worse. Talk to your doctor prior to taking this medication in conjunction along with a sleeping pill and narcotic pain medication such as muscle relaxers, medicines to treat anxiousness, depression or seizures..
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist prior to using this medication if you're also taking other medicines that include prescription or over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal products.
