Before you take this drug
If you've ever experienced an allergic reaction, then Metamucil Unflavored Smooth Texture is not for you.
If you've ever:
- Stomach pain, nausea, or vomiting;
- Trouble swallowing
- A sudden and lasting change in the bowel habit that lasts more than two weeks
The medication may also contain sodium or sugar. If you suffer from diabetes, hypertension, or PKU (phenylketonuria), you should check the label of your medication. You may need a different dose during pregnancy and while nursing. Metamucil Unflavored Smooth-Texture should not be given to children younger than six years of age without consulting a doctor.
How to take Metamucil Unflavored Smooth Texture?
Follow the instructions on the packaging or those prescribed by your physician. If laxatives are taken too frequently or for too long, they can become habit-forming. Metamucil Unflavored Soft texture may cause swelling in the throat, causing choking. To improve regularity, drink plenty of liquids every day. Metamucil Unflavored Texture Smooth should be taken with 8 ounces of water or any other liquid. Metamucil Smooth Texture Unflavored capsules should be taken one at a time. Metamucil Unflavored Powder Smooth texture must be dissolved in liquid before taking. The dry powder should not be swallowed. Add 8 ounces or more of water, fruit juice, or other liquid. Mix and consume this mix immediately. Pour a bit more water into the glass and swirl it gently. Drink immediately. Metamucil Unflavored Texture Smooth usually results in a bowel motion within 12 to 72 hours. Metamucil Unflavored Smooth-Texture should not be taken for more than seven days without consulting a physician. Too much laxative use can cause serious medical issues with the intestines. What happens if I miss the dose?
Metamucil Unflavored Soft Texture may be used as needed if you are not on a schedule. If it is almost time to take your next dose, skip any missed doses. Never take two doses in one go.

What should be avoided?
When mixing, avoid breathing in the dust of Metamucil Unflavored Smooth Texture Powder. This medicine dust can cause allergic reactions if inhaled. Avoid eating high-fat or high-cholesterol foods if you are taking Metamucil Unflavored. Otherwise, your treatment may not be effective.
Interaction with other drug
Metamucil Unflavored Soft Texture may make other medications you swallow less absorbable and therefore less effective. Take any other oral medications 2 hours prior to or 2 hours following the time you are taking this medication. Metamucil Unflavored Soft Texture may be affected by other drugs, such as prescription or over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal products. Inform your physician of all medications you are currently taking as well as any changes, both new and discontinued, which affect you.
