What is Zytiga?

Zytiga reduces androgen production within the body. The hormones known as androgens can be male hormones that may cause prostate cancer growth. Gland.

Zytiga is used along with steroid medications (prednisone or methylprednisolone) to treat prostate cancer, which can spread to various areas of the body.Zytiga is a treatment for men with prostate cancer that can't be treated surgically or with other medications.

Warnings

How to take Zytiga?

Usual Adult Dose for Prostate Cancer:

Metastatic CRPC:
The recommended dosage is 1000 mg once a day orally (in combination with methylprednisolone 5 mg daily orally).
A modified formulation of 500 mg taken orally every day (in combination with methylprednisolone, 4 mg orally twice daily)
The metastatic risk is high. CSPC:
Regular dosage: 1000 mg taken orally every day (in combination with methylprednisolone: 5 mg orally every day).
A micronized formulation of 500 mg taken orally each day (in conjunction with methylprednisolone for 4 mg orally twice daily)

Uses:
Together with prednisone, it is treating patients suffering from:
Metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC)
Prostate cancer with a high risk of metastatic castration (CSPC)

What should be avoided?

Don't eat anything for at least two hours prior to taking Zytiga or at least one hour following your dose. Foods can increase the amount of abiraterone that your body absorbs and could cause adverse side effects.

Do not take a herbal supplement that contains St. John's wort.

Side effects of Zytiga

See a doctor immediately. If you are experiencing symptoms that indicate an allergy reaction, Zytiga: hives, breathing problems, and swelling of your lips, face, or tongue

See your doctor right away. If you suffer from:

  • The swelling of your ankles, feet, or legs; discomfort in your legs;
  • Irregular or rapid heartbeats;
  • Feeling lightheaded, like you're about to go into a coma.
  • Extreme headache severe headache, blurred vision the pounding of your neck or in your ears;
  • Pain or burning sensations when you urinate

  • Extreme lower blood sugar—headache, hunger, sweating, irritability, anxiety, fast heart rate, and a feeling of anxiety or shaking.

Common Zytiga side effects may include:

  • Feeling very tired or weak
  • Feeling very hot;
  • High blood sugar levels;
  • Elevated blood pressure
  • Swelling in your feet or legs;
  • Anemia or low blood potassium levels;
  • Painful urination;
  • Unusual liver function test results or different blood tests
  • Joint inflammation or pain;
  • Headache;
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea;
  • Symptoms of the cold, like nasal stuffiness, sneezing, coughing, and a sore throat.

Interaction with other drugs

There are times when it's not recommended to take certain medications in combination. Certain drugs may affect the blood levels of other medications you are taking, which could create side effects or render the medication less effective.

Discuss with your doctor all the medications you take. Numerous drugs can interfere with abiraterone, including:

  • Other prostate cancer medications other prostate cancer medicines, including radiation Ra 223 (which may increase the chance of breaking bones while you're taking Zytiga), as well as
