What is Medicasp?

The coal tar that is produced during the processing of coal Medicasp is used for the treatment of skin symptoms associated with psoriasis. These include dryness, redness, and flaking. The use of coal tar will not cure psoriasis and will only provide temporary relief. This medication guide does not list all possible uses of coal tar.

Side effects of Medicasp

If you experience difficulty breathing, hives, swelling in your lips, face, throat or tongue or difficulty with swallowing then there may be an allergy present.

Medicasp may cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • The skin may experience severe irritation, such as stinging or burning.

Some of the most common side effects include mild irritation, rash, or mild skin. There may be other side effects.Call your doctor immediately for medical advice regarding side effects or report them by contacting FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.

Before you take this drug

If you have an allergy to coal tar, then Medicasp is not for you. If you are suffering from any other health conditions or symptoms, you should consult your doctor before using this medication.

  • If you have an allergy to drugs of any kind,
  • If you receive ultraviolet radiation therapy for your psoriasis,

Other emulsifiers may be present in coal tar. You should always check the labels of the coal tar products you use. If you have an allergy to one of the coal tar ingredients, talk with your doctor about using it. Consult your doctor before taking this medication if you're pregnant or breastfeeding. You should not let a child under the age of 12 use this medication without an adult's supervision.

How to take Medicasp?

Do not exceed the recommended dosage or duration. Use the recommended dose and do not exceed it. Follow the instructions on the label to apply coal tar lotion, cream, ointment, or solution. Coal tar creams, lotions, and ointments can be used up to four times per day. Pour 1 to 3 cups of coal tar oil into the warm water before you bathe. It can cause the tub to become slippery. Avoid a slip. Just before using the shampoo, shake it well. You should use enough shampoo to produce a thick lather. Rinse thoroughly after massaging the shampoo in. Then, apply the shampoo again and let it sit on your head for five minutes. After rinsing, rinse thoroughly. The shampoo can discolor blonde or colored hair. This is usually a temporary effect. Use coal tar sparingly on large areas of skin. Avoid using coal tar for long periods of time without consulting your doctor.

Some types of coal tar may stain fabrics or other surfaces. If your symptoms don't improve or worsen while you are using Medicasp, call your doctor. Maintain a room temperature, away from excessive heat or moisture. Once unopened, store tightly sealed.

What happens if I miss the dose?

You may not have a schedule for Medicasp, as it is only used when necessary. Use the missed dose if you have a regular schedule as soon as possible. If your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose. You should not take extra medication to compensate for a missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

Accidental overdoses of Medicasp aren't generally harmful; should anyone accidentally consume this medicine, seek emergency medical assistance or call 1-800-222-1222 immediately for advice from Poison Help Line.

What should be avoided?

You should not combine coal tar with any other medications for psoriasis unless you have been told to by your doctor. Do not get Medicasp into your eyes.Immediately rinse your eyes with water if this should occur. Avoid using coal tar on the skin in your groin area or rectal region. Avoid sunlamps and tanning beds. The coal tar in your body can increase the sensitivity of the skin to UV rays and sunburn.

Interaction with other drug

The application of coal tar topically is unlikely to be affected by other drugs that you may take orally or even inject. Many drugs interact. Inform your healthcare providers of all the medicines that you take, including prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbs.
