M-Hist PD

Generic Name: Triprolidine [Trye-PROE li-deen]
Histex PD Drops (also known as Histex Syrup), PediaClear PD (also called Histex), Vanaclear PD, and Vanahist PD.

What is M-Hist PD?

M-Hist PD, an antihistamine, is prescribed to treat sneezing and other symptoms of allergies, such as hay or fever. M-Hist PD can be used in other ways not mentioned in the medication guide.

Side effects of M-Hist PD

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergy reaction, seek immediate medical attention: difficulty breathing, hives, swelling in your lips, face, throat, or tongue.

M-Hist PD can cause severe side effects. M-Hist PD should be stopped immediately, and you need to consult your doctor if:

  • Urination that is painful or difficult.

M-Hist may cause the following side effects:

  • Dizziness, drowsiness;
  • Blurred vision
  • Dry throat or nose;
  • Constipation;
  • Increased urination
  • Feeling nervous or restless, especially in children.

Warnings

Please read all the instructions on the label or package of your medication. Inform your physician of any allergies and medical conditions you are experiencing as well as which medicines you are currently using. Antihistamines should never be used to put a child to sleep.

Before you take this drug

If you have an allergy to M-Hist PD, then it is best not to use the product.

If you are:

  • A breathing disorder, such as chronic bronchitis and emphysema.
  • Glaucoma;
  • An enlarged prostrate can cause urination issues.

Consult your doctor before taking this medication if you're pregnant or nursing.The medicine you are taking may contain phenylalanine. If you have phenylketonuria, be sure to read and adhere to the label on any medications prescribed to you.

How to take M-Hist PD?

Follow the directions on the package or those prescribed by your physician. Use cold or cough medicine only as needed until symptoms disappear. Follow the directions provided on the label when giving cough and cold medicines to children. Never use cough and cold medicines to put young children to sleep. The chewable tablet must be chewed before it can be swallowed. Measuring liquid medication is important. Dosing devices are available, but not spoons. If your symptoms don't improve within seven days or you experience headaches, fevers or rashes - seek medical attention immediately. Tell your doctor if this medication has been taken within the last few days and if you are going to need medical testing or surgery. Keep away from heat and moisture. Liquid medicines should not be allowed to freeze.

What happens if I miss the dose?

M-Hist PD can be used as needed, and you don't need to follow a schedule. If it is almost time to take your next dose, skip any missed doses. Never take two doses in one go.

What happens if I overdose?

Call 1-800-222-1222 for poison help or seek immediate medical attention.

What should be avoided?

Do not drive or engage in hazardous activities until you are sure of how M-Hist PD affects you. You may be unable to react properly. Alcohol can enhance certain side effects of triprolidine. Before using any other cold or cough medicines, ask your doctor if they contain the same ingredients. Avoid overheating or becoming dehydrated when exercising in warm weather. M-Hist PD may decrease perspiration and make you more susceptible to heat stroke.

Interaction with other drug

This medicine should not be taken with any other medications that can cause you to fall asleep or have difficulty breathing. (For example, opioids, muscle relaxers, and medicines for anxiety, seizures, etc.). Before using other medications, such as vitamins and herbs, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
