What is Hyaluronidase and trastuzumab?

Hyaluronidase is a genetically engineered protein. Trastuzumab can be used to treat cancer.Combination medicine that treats certain types of breast cancer.This medication guide does not list all possible uses for hyaluronidase or trastuzumab.

Side effects of Hyaluronidase and trastuzumab

If you experience any of the following signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction: hives, difficulty breathing, lips, face, tongue or throat swelling and any of these should seek immediate medical assistance: hives. difficulty in breathing. or face. tongue. or throat swelling.Some side effects can occur during injection. You should tell your caregiver if you are feeling dizzy, nauseated, or feverish.

Hyaluronidase or trastuzumab can cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • A new or worsening cough, wheezing, shortness, or rapid breathing;
  • Rapid weight gain; swelling of the face or legs;
  • Fluttering or fast heartbeats
  • Feeling lightheadedness as though they could faint.
  • Blisters or ulcers on your lips, swollen or red gums, difficulty swallowing
  • Fluid buildup in the lungs: pain when you breathe, shortness of breath while lying, foamy mucus, or coughing
  • Low blood cell count: a fever; a sore throat; tiredness; skin lesions; pale skin and hands; feeling lightheaded.

Some of the common side effects associated with hyaluronidase or trastuzumab include:

  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea;
  • Fever, chills, tiredness;
  • Cough and breathing problems
  • Swelling;
  • Hair loss;
  • Flushing (a sudden feeling of warmth, redness, or tingling sensation);
  • Joint or muscle pain
  • Cold symptoms like stuffy noses, sneezing, and sore throats;
  • Sleep problems (insomnia);
  • Rash;
  • Pain, burning, itching, swelling, warmth, redness, bruises, bleeding, or skin changes where the medicine has been injected

Warnings

Trastuzumab and hyaluronidase can cause heart failure. This is especially true if your heart condition is heart disease.Side effects can occur after the injection. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience nausea, dizziness, fever, chills, shortness of breath, diarrhea, chest pain, swelling on your face, or difficulty breathing.

Before you take this drug

This medicine may cause heart failure, particularly if you already have heart disease or are taking certain cancer medications (such as Daunorubicin, Doxorubicin, Epirubicin, or Idarubicin).

Inform your physician of any of the following issues:

  • Heart problems
  • High blood pressure
  • If you recently suffered from an infection,

Avoid using hyaluronidase or trastuzumab while pregnant. The medicine may cause harm to an unborn child. Use birth control during treatment and for 7 months following your last dose.You may be added to a registry if you become pregnant during treatment or within seven months of stopping. This is done in order to monitor the effects on the child.Breastfeeding may not be recommended while taking this medication and up to seven months after the last dose. You should ask your doctor if there are any risks.

How to take Hyaluronidase and trastuzumab?

Injections of hyaluronidase or trastuzumab are usually given once every three weeks.Healthcare provider will administer this injection.Hyaluronidase and trastuzumab are usually administered for 1 year or until the body stops responding to the medication.It may be necessary to have frequent medical tests in order to ensure that this medication does not have any harmful side effects. The results may delay your cancer treatment.Hyaluronidase can cause long-lasting effects on the body. You may require frequent medical testing while taking this medication and for 2 years following your last dose.

Details on dosage

Adult dose for breast cancer:

Subcutaneously, 10,000 units/600mg (10,000 units hyaluronidase/600mg trastuzumab) every 3 weeks.
Duration of therapy
Treatment of adjuvant breast carcinoma should be continued for at least 52 weeks, or until the disease returns. Extending therapy beyond a year is not recommended.
Treat metastatic breast cancer up to the progression of the disease.
Comments:
If a missed dose occurs, the dose should be administered as soon as possible. The next dose should then be administered three weeks later.
Uses:
adjuvant treatment in adults with HER2-positive node or node-negative breast cancer (ER/PR-negative or with at least one high-risk feature) as part of the treatment regimen consisting of doxorubicin cyclophosphamide, Paclitaxel, and Docetaxel OR with docetaxel carboplatin.
for metastatic cancer combined with paclitaxel as a first-line therapy for HER2-overexpressing metastatic cancer or for HER2-overexpressing cancer patients who have already received a chemotherapy regimen for metastatic disease.

What happens if I miss the dose?

If you missed your appointment for hyaluronidase or trastuzumab, call your doctor to get instructions.

What happens if I overdose?

Overdoses are unlikely because hyaluronidase is administered by a health professional in a medical environment.

What should be avoided?

If your doctor prescribes any restrictions regarding food, beverage, or activity, follow their instructions.

Interaction with other drug

Other drugs, such as vitamins and herbal remedies, may also affect hyaluronidase or trastuzumab. Notify your doctor of all of the medications you currently take as well as those you intend to start or discontinue taking.Trastuzumab and hyaluronidase can cause long-lasting effects on the heart, particularly if you are taking other cancer medications. Tell any doctor that treats you, for at least seven months after the last dose of trastuzumab you took, that you used hyaluronidase.
