What is  histrelin?

Histrelin is an implant that is tiny and placed under the skin inside your arm's upper. The implant will be inserted through a minimal surgical procedure in a medical clinic or office.

It is recommended to insert the implant in an arm that is not your dominant arm (your left arm if you have a right hand). Make sure to inform your physician which arm you use the most often.

The skin on your upper arm is treated using a numbing medication to prevent your arm from causing pain when the implant is inserted. The doctor will employ a scalpel to make an incision small enough where implants will be placed.

The histrelin implant will be inserted using a specially designed tool that inserts the implant through an incision within the skin. Following the injection and then removing the tool for insertion, your doctor will examine your arm to make sure that the implant is correctly positioned.

The cut in your skin could be closed using stitching or surgical strips. Follow the instructions of your physician for taking care of the wound and ensuring it is kept bandaged and clean until it is healed completely. Make sure your arm is dry for a minimum of 24 hours.

Most likely, you'll be capable of feeling the implant under the skin, but it shouldn't cause discomfort or pain.

Contact your physician if you notice any swelling, pain, or tenderness—itching, bruising, tingling, or redness—in the area where the implant was put and if it slips through your skin or disappears.

An implant made of histrelin is typically kept in place for 12 months. It is then removed using a surgical incision. Do not attempt the removal of the implant on your own. Your doctor will decide if you require another implant as a continuing treatment.

You might experience a temporary rise in precocious puberty signs for up to a week after receiving Supprelin LA. Supprelin LA implant

You might require medical tests to assist your doctor in determining the length of time you should be treated with histrelin.

Histrelin may cause abnormal results when testing for certain medical conditions. Be sure to inform any doctor treating you about using histrelin.
