What is Fluovix?

Fluocinonide, a powerful steroid, prevents substances from being released in the body that cause inflammation. Fluovix is used for the treatment of inflammation and itching due to plaque-psoriasis, or skin conditions that respond to steroids. Fluovix can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of Fluovix

If you experience any of the following signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction: hives, difficulty breathing and swelling to lips, face, tongue or throat. Seek medical assistance immediately.

Fluovix may cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • Redness, heat, swelling, oozing or severe irritation on any type of skin treated:
  • Skin conditions are worsening;
  • Fluovix can cause weight gain, especially in the face, upper back, and torso, as well as thinning skin, discoloration, muscle weakness, nausea, or diarrhea. Other symptoms include fatigue, mood changes, changes to your menstrual cycle, or sexual changes.

Steroids can have an impact on the growth of children. If your child's growth isn't normal while taking this medication, tell your doctor.

Fluovix side effects include:

  • The skin may feel dry, itchy, or irritated.
  • Redness or crusting on your hair follicles.
  • Stretch marks;
  • Spider veins;
  • Acne;
  • Lightened skin color;
  • Headache;
  • Sore throat.

Before you take this drug

Fluovix should not be used if you have an allergy to it.

Tell your doctor immediately of any of the following symptoms:

  • Any type of skin infection
  • A skin reaction to steroid medicines;
  • Liver disease
  • An adrenal gland disorder is a condition that affects the adrenal glands.

Steroid medications may increase glucose levels in blood and urine. If you have diabetes, inform your healthcare provider immediately if this happens to you. Fluovix does not pose a threat to unborn babies and is safe. Please notify your physician if you become pregnant while using Fluovix and plan on becoming pregnant in the near future. Breastfeeding may not be possible while taking this medication. You should ask your doctor if there are any risks. Avoid areas where the mouth of a baby may be in contact with fluocinonide if you apply it to your chest. This medicine should not be given to children without medical advice. Children younger than 12 are not recommended for taking this medicine. Children may experience adverse side effects due to absorption through their skin.

How to take Fluovix?

Read all instructions or guides that accompany your medication and strictly abide by them, following all label directions as stated on its packaging. Take only oral medicines; topical ones are for topical application to the skin only and should never be applied directly onto open wounds, sunburned or windburned areas, dry, itchy areas or open wounds. In case this medicine accidentally comes in contact with eyes or mouth areas, rinse immediately with water to rinse away any effects. Fluocinonide should only be used to treat skin ailments. Apply a thin layer to the area in which it's necessary. Please consult your physician if applying larger areas. Do not wash or rub your scalp immediately following application; wait until all the medication has completely set before taking further actions. If your symptoms do not respond positively or worsen after two weeks of treatment, consult a medical practitioner immediately. Notify your doctor immediately if you are taking this medication or require surgery. Fluocinonide should not be stopped abruptly; follow your physician's recommendations about decreasing your dosage gradually. What happens if I miss the dose?

If it is almost time for your next dose, skip any missed ones and wait. If a dose was missed by accident and close to being due for consumption, take only your next scheduled dosage instead of that which was missed. Never apply two doses at once.

What happens if I overdose?

If someone accidentally swallows their medication, seek immediate medical care or contact Poison Help at 1-800-222-1222 immediately. Fluovix may cause thinning of the skin, easy bleeding, changes in body weight (especially on your neck, face, back, and waist), acne, facial hair growth, menstrual issues, impotence, or a loss of interest in sexual activity.

What should be avoided?

Avoid getting Fluovix into your eyes. Rinse with water if you do. Do not apply this medication to the face, scalp, underarms, or groin. Fluovix should not be used to treat skin conditions that have not been examined by your doctor. Do not use other topical steroids on areas that you have treated with fluocinonide unless you are told to by your doctor.

Interaction with other drug

Other medications you take shouldn't interfere with the medicine used on your skin.Many drugs interact with each other. Inform your healthcare provider about the medicines you take, including vitamins and herbal remedies.
