What is Fleet Enema (rectal)?

Fleet enemas are forms of the mineral phosphorus. Fleet Enema is a combination medicine for both children and adults to relieve constipation and cleanse the bowel prior to colon surgery, either x-rays, radiographs, or endoscopy exams. Fleet enema may also be employed for other purposes that are not covered in this guideline for medication.

Side Effects of Fleet Enema (rectal)

See a doctor immediately. Get medical attention immediately if you notice symptoms that indicate an allergic reaction, like hives, trouble breathing, or swelling of your lips, face, and tongue.

The medication could cause severe adverse reactions. Take the medicine off and contact your doctor immediately if you suffer from:

  • There is no stool movement for 30 minutes following use.
  • Bleeding from the rectal or vibrant red bowel movements
  • Dehydration symptoms: dizziness, vomiting, thirst, little or no urination.

Common adverse consequences of Fleet Enema may include:

  • Rectal discomfort.

Warnings

It is advised not to make use of Fleet Enema without a doctor's guidance if you suffer from kidney problems, heart conditions, or constipation that causes nausea, stomach cramps, vomiting, or both. If you take too much of this medication, it could cause dangerous negative effects on your heart and kidneys.

Before you take this drug

It is not recommended to use this medication without a physician's guidance if you suffer from:

Consult a physician before taking this medication if you are breastfeeding or pregnant. Do not use an adult-strength enema on a child who is less than twelve years old. Do not give this medicine to a child who is less than two years old.

How to take Fleet Enema (rectal)?

Utilizing too much Fleet Enema can cause rare but life-threatening effects on your kidneys as well as your heart. Use only as indicated on the label or as directed by your physician. Do not drink this rectal enema via mouth. It's only for use in the rectum. When you administer this medicine to children between 2 and 11 years old, only use the formula specifically designed for children. Fleet enema is expected to cause you to experience bowel movements within 1–5 minutes. Do not take more than one enema within the span of 24 hours. What happens if I miss the dose?

Fleet Enema does not have an enema schedule for daily use. Don't make more than one enema per 24 hours. Contact your physician if your symptoms don't improve after taking this medicine.

What happens if I overdose?

For medical emergencies, seek emergency treatment or contact the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222, particularly if you suspect that someone has swallowed the medication accidentally.

What should be avoided?

Do not use another laxative using Fleet Enema unless your doctor advises you to.

Interaction with other drug

Other medications can influence Fleet Enema, including prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal products. Inform your physician about your current medications and any medication you begin or stop taking.
