What is Ertaczo?

Ertaczo is an antifungal drug that combats infections due to fungus.Ertaczo is used for the treatment of Tinea Pedis (Athlete's Foot) among adults and children aged 12 or older.Ertaczo can be used in other ways not mentioned in the medication guide.

Side effects of Ertaczo

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergy to Ertaczo: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling in your lips, face, throat, or tongue

If you experience:

  • After applying medicine, you may experience severe redness or burning.
  • Itching and blistering of the skin
  • The skin may swell or leak fluid.

Ertaczo can cause a variety of side effects.

  • Dryness of the treated skin
  • Skin tenderness;
  • Mild rash or irritation of the skin where the medication was applied

There may be other side effects. For medical advice on side effects, call your doctor. Report side effects by calling the FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.

Warnings

Ertaczo should be used for the entire time period prescribed. You may notice that your symptoms improve even before the infection has completely cleared. However, it's important to finish the entire course of medication.If your doctor has not prescribed otherwise, do not apply bandages and dressings (occlusive) that prevent air from flowing over the affected areas. Wear clean cotton socks, sandals, or shoes with air flow.Please read all the instructions on the label or package of your medication. Inform your doctors about your allergies and medical conditions. Inform them which medications you are currently taking.

Before you take this drug

If you have an allergy to sertaconazole, then Ertaczo is not for you.Ertaczo is unknown to cause harm to an unborn child. If you plan to get pregnant or are already pregnant, tell your doctor.Sertaconazole is unknown to pass into breast milk or harm nursing babies. Inform your doctor that you are breastfeeding a child.Ertaczo should not be used on children under the age of 12 without consulting a doctor.

How to take Ertaczo?

Follow the instructions on your prescription label. Please follow all the instructions on the prescription label. Use this medication only as directed. Do not exceed the recommended dosage or use it for longer.Take it only as directed. Ertaczo is only for skin use.The affected area should be cleaned and dried.For athletes' feet, apply the cream twice per day to the area between your toes.Cover the treated skin only if your doctor says so.After applying Ertaczo, wash your hands.Do not stop taking the medication before it is completely cleared. You may experience symptoms before your infection has completely resolved. You may increase the risk of a second infection resistant to antifungal medication if you skip doses.If your symptoms don't improve or worsen while you are using Ertaczo, call your doctor.Ertaczo should not be used to treat skin conditions that have not been examined by your physician. This medicine should not be shared with anyone else, even if the other person has similar symptoms.Keep the tube at room temperature, away from heat and moisture. When not in use, keep the tube closed tightly.

Details on dosage

Adult dose for Tinea Pedis:

Use topically every day twice for four weeks.
Indication approved: Treatment of tinea pedis interdigitalis (as induced by Trichophyton mentagrophytes and Epidermophyton floccosum in patients with immunocompetence).

The usual pediatric dose for Tinea Pedis is:

Apply topically every day for four weeks.
The indication for the approved drug is: treatment of interdigital tinnitus (due to T rubrum or T mentagrophytes) among immunocompetent individuals.

What happens if I miss the dose?

As soon as possible, apply the missed dose. If it's almost time to take your next dose, skip the missed dose. Don't use additional medicine to compensate for a missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

Call 1-800-222-1222 for poison help or seek immediate medical attention.

Avoid this

Do not get this medication in your eye.Do not get this medication in your mouth, nose, vagina, or rectum.

Interaction with other drug

Sertaconazole applied topically is unlikely to be affected by other medications you may take orally or even inject. Many drugs interact. Inform your healthcare providers of all the medicines that you take, including vitamins and herbal products, prescriptions, and over-the-counter medicines.
