What is Duramorph PF?

Duramorph PF, an opioid medication, is used to treat severe Chronic Pain in children and adults. Duramorph PF can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of Duramorph PF

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention: difficulty breathing, hives, swelling of your lips, face, tongue, or throat. If you take opioid medicine, it can cause your breathing to slow down or stop. Death may result. If you have long pauses in your breathing, blue lips, or are hard to awaken, someone caring for you may want to give you naloxone.

Duramorph PF can cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • Slow heartbeat, sighing, and shallow breathing;
  • Feeling extreme fatigue and like you could pass out;
  • Flushing (sudden heat, redness, or tingly sensation);
  • A seizure;
  • High levels of serotonin—agitation and hallucinations; fever; rapid heart rate; muscle stiffness or twitching. Loss of coordination.
  • Low cortisol levels may lead to nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite and dizziness as well as worsening fatigue or weakness.

People with chronic breathing disorders, wasting syndrome, and older adults are more susceptible to serious breathing problems.

Duramorph pf side effects may include:

  • Breathing problems
  • Drowsiness, dizziness;
  • Constipation, nausea, and vomiting;
  • Sweating;
  • You may experience tingling or numbness in your fingers and toes.

Warnings

Misuse of opioid medications may result in addiction, overdose or death; therefore Duramorph PF must be stored where others cannot gain access. Opioids taken during gestation may produce withdrawal symptoms that pose life-threating risks to both mother and newborn. Side effects that are fatal can occur if alcohol is consumed or if other drugs cause drowsiness and slow breathing.

Before you take this drug

If you've ever experienced an allergic reaction to Duramorph or any other opioid medicine, or if:

  • Asthma or severe breathing problems
  • A stomach or obstruction in the bowel (including paralyticileus);
  • If you've taken an MAO inhibitor in the last 14 days, Examples include isocarboxazid linezolid, methylene blue injection phenelzine, and transylcypromine.

Inform your physician of any of the following issues:

  • Sleep apnea is a breathing issue which disrupts restful restful slumber.
  • A head injury, brain tumor, or seizures;
  • Drug or alcohol abuse, or mental illness.
  • Urination problems
  • Liver or kidney disease
  • Pancreatitis.

Your baby may suffer from life-threatening withdrawal syndrome if you take opioids during pregnancy. You might need to seek medical attention for several weeks. If your infant seems sleepy or breathing slowly, notify their physician as soon as possible.

How to take Duramorph PF?

Read all instructions or medication guides and follow the directions on your prescription label. Duramorph PF should never be used in higher doses or for longer periods than prescribed. If you find yourself wanting to take more Duramorph, tell your doctorDo not share opioid medications with anyone, particularly if they have an established history of drug dependency or abuse. Misuse could result in overdose or even death if misuse occurs, so store this medication somewhere where others cannot easily gain access; selling or giving this medicine away illegal.Duramorph PF can be injected either into a muscle or vein. Sometimes, this medicine is injected with an infusion device that regulates your dosage. If you suddenly stop taking Duramorph PF, you may experience withdrawal symptoms. Before stopping the medication, consult your doctor. Store away from heat and moisture at room temperature. Keep the auto-injector in its original container until it is ready to usePut away your medication securely so no one else can abuse it.Keep leftover medicine out of the reach of children. One dose of medicine can be fatal if it is used incorrectly or accidentally.

What happens if I miss the dose?

You are unlikely to miss a dosage of Duramorph PF because you will be receiving it in a hospital with a controlled pump.

What happens if I overdose?

Call the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222 or seek emergency medical care. An overdose of opioids can be deadly, especially if the person is a child or if they are using it without a prescription. You may be advised by your doctor to carry naloxone with you (a medicine that reverses an overdose). If you stop breathing or do not wake up, a person who cares for you can administer naloxone. You must still call for emergency medical assistance, and your caregiver may have to perform CPR on you while they wait. Naloxone can be purchased at any local pharmacy or health department. Be sure anyone who cares for you is aware of where and how you store naloxone.

What should be avoided?

Don't drink alcohol. Side effects and death can occur. Duramorph PF can cause dizziness or drowsiness. Avoid driving and other hazardous activities until you are sure of how they will affect you.Dizziness and fatigue may result in accidents or severe injuries.

Interaction with other drug

Other drugs can be dangerous if used in conjunction with opioid medicines. Inform your doctor if:

  • Other opioid medications
  • A benzodiazepine sedative such as Valium, Klonopin, or Xanax.
  • Sleep medicine, muscle relaxants, or any other drug that makes you sleepy;
  • Drugs that affect serotonin, such as antidepressants or stimulants, or medicine for migraines or Parkinson’s disease
