What is DHS Sal?

Salicylic acid causes the shedding of outer skin layers. DHS Sal for the Skin is used to treat acne, scalp dandruff, or seborrhea. It can also be used to treat psoriasis and remove warts, corns, and calluses. DHS Sal can be used in other ways not mentioned in the medication guide.

Side effects of DHS Sal

DHS Sal may cause an allergic reaction that is rare but can be severe. The reactions can occur within minutes or even hours after the application of DHS Sal. If you experience any of the following symptoms: hives, itching, difficulty breathing, feeling lightheaded, or swelling in your mouth, face, lips, throat, and tongue,

Stop using DHS Sal immediately and consult your physician if:

  • Severe headache; ringing or buzzing in the ears; hearing problems; mental problems
  • Severe stomach pain, nausea, or diarrhea.
  • A feeling of lightheadedness, as if you could pass out.
  • Shortness of breath
  • Severe burning, irritation, and/or dryness of the skin.

Some of the common side effects that DHS sal may cause include:

  • Mild skin irritation or rash;
  • Changes in the skin color (normally whitening)

There may be other side effects.Call your physician immediately if experiencing adverse side effects; otherwise contact FDA's 24-Hour Hotline on Side Effects (1-800FDA-1088).

Warnings

The use of DHS Sal may cause an allergic reaction, which can be severe, and skin irritation. If you experience hives or itching, difficulty breathing or feeling lightheaded, or swelling in your mouth, face, lips, or throat, stop using the medicine immediately.

Before you take this drug

If you have an allergy to DHS Sal, then it is best not to use the product.

DHS Sal can be used in children or adolescents with influenza symptoms or chickenpox. This may cause Reye’s syndrome.

If you suffer from:

  • Liver or kidney disease
  • Diabetes;
  • Blood circulation disorders

Consult your doctor if you're pregnant or nursing before taking this medication.

How to take DHS Sal?

DHS Sal comes in a variety of forms, including liquids, gels, lotions, creams, ointments, foams, soaps, shampoos, cloth pads, and patches. Follow the instructions on the packaging or those prescribed by your physician. Take it only by mouth. Topical medicines are only to be used on the skin.

DHS Sal may cause an allergic reaction, which is rare but can be serious. It could also lead to severe skin irritation. As a test dose, apply a small amount to 1 or 2 areas of skin every day. On the fourth day, if you don't have an allergic reaction, use the full amount prescribed. Shake the medication before using it. Please follow all the instructions on the label. DHS Sal should not be used to treat conditions that have not been examined by a doctor. It may take several days for your symptoms to improve.If your symptoms remain unchanged or worsen, consult with a healthcare provider immediately. Keep this medication in its original container, at room temperature, and away from heat or moisture. The foam canister should be kept away from flames or heat.If a canister becomes overheated, it could explode and result in fire or injury to those nearby.Empty aerosol canisters should not be punctured or burned.

What happens if I miss the dose?

DHS Sal can be used as needed. You can skip the missed dose if you have a schedule. Never use more than one dose at a time.

What happens if I overdose?

If anyone accidentally swallows the medication, seek emergency medical care or contact the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222.

What should be avoided?

DHS Sal should not be used on wounds that are open or sunburned. If this medication gets into your mouth or eyes, rinse with water. The medicine is flammable. Avoid using near-open flames or high temperatures. Before using a styling tool (such as an iron or curling wand), wash your hands to remove the medication. The medicine could ignite, causing your skin to burn. Smoking is not allowed until all the gel on your skin has dried. Do not use other medication in areas treated with DHS Sal unless your doctor has prescribed it.

Interaction with other drug

Make sure your doctor knows about all medications taken, both prescription and over-the-counter drugs.Inform your doctor of all the medications you are taking, including over-the-counter and prescription medicines as well as vitamins and herbs.
