What is DermOtic Oil ?
fluocinolone, a medicine that contains steroids. DermOtic Oil is used for the treatment of eczema in children and adults over the age of 2 years. DermOtic Oil can be used in other ways than those listed here.
Side effects of DermOtic Oil
If you experience any of the following signs and symptoms of an allergy reaction: difficulty breathing, hives or swelling on lips, face throat or tongue
DermOtic Oil can cause severe side effects. Call your doctor immediately if:
- Severe irritation around or in your ears;
- Signs of an infection on the skin include warmth, redness, and swelling.
Topical steroids can be absorbed through the skin, causing side effects in other parts of your body. You should tell your doctor:
- Weight gain, especially in the face and upper back or torso;
- Stretch marks, facial hair, and thinning of the skin
- Memory problems and feeling irritable
- Changes in sexual function, irregular periods of menstruation,
- Growth delay is a prevalent issue for children.
Children may experience side effects more readily due to increased skin absorption.
DermOtic Oil can have the following side effects:
- Itching or burning is a sign of irritation.
- The skin rash that appears around the area of application;
- You may experience a rash around the mouth.
- Stretch marks, acne, and pimples
- Lightening of skin tone
- Redness around the hair follicles.
There may be other side effects. Call your physician immediately if experiencing adverse side effects and report them by phoning 1-800-FDA-1088, for advice or reporting them directly.

Before you take this drug
If you have an allergy to fluocinolone, then it is best not to use DermOtic Oil. This medication contains peanut oil. You should tell your doctor about any peanut allergies. This medicine may not work if your skin is infected with Inform your doctor whether you are breastfeeding or pregnant. DermOtic Oil is not recommended for children younger than two years of age. This medicine can be absorbed more readily by children through their skin.
How to take DermOtic Oil?
Read and follow all instructions or guides included with your medication, as well as those found on its prescription label. Take it only by mouth. Otic medicines are only to be used in the ears. Before using the eardrops, wash your hands.
How to use the eardrops:
- If you are lying down, tilting your head upward with your ear up is a good idea. When giving the medicine to children, gently pull your ear forward or downward on the earlobe.
- Drop the appropriate number of drops in your ear by holding the dropper upside-down over the ear.
- Keep your head tilted or lying flat for a few minutes.
- Avoid touching the tip of the dropper or placing it in your ears. The dropper tip may be contaminated. Do not use soap or water to wash the tip. Instead, wipe it with a tissue.
Use a cotton ball and clean water to remove any liquid medicine from your ears. Do not use cotton to plug in the treated ear. This could lead to unwanted side effects. If your symptoms don't improve within 2 weeks or worsen, call your doctor. Keep the bottle at a temperature between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius, away from heat or moisture. When not in use, keep the bottle closed tightly.
What happens if I miss the dose?
If you are almost due for the next dose, skip the missed one. Never take two doses of the same medicine at once.
What happens if I overdose?
Call 1-800-222-1222 for poison help or seek immediate medical attention. The use of steroids in high doses can cause thinning of the skin or bruising. It may also lead to changes in body weight (especially on your neck, face, and back), acne, facial hair growth, infertility, or a loss of sexual interest.
What should be avoided?
Avoid getting DermOtic Oil into your eyes. In the event that contact occurs, wash with water. DermOtic oil should not be used to treat any conditions that have not been examined by your physician.
Interaction with other drug
Other drugs that you take are unlikely to affect the medicine used on your ears. Many drugs interact. Inform your health care providers of all the medicines that you take, including prescription medicines and over-the-counter medications.
