Cyklokapron

Generic name: tranexamic acid (Cyklokapron) [tranex-AM-ik AS-id]

Drug class: modifiers of coagulation that are not coagulation.

What is Cyklokapron?

Tranexamic acid blocks enzymes within our bodies from breaking blood clots.

Cyklokapron is a medication used to stop bleeding in patients with hemophilia who require the tooth removed. The medication is typically administered prior to a tooth extraction procedure and then every day for up to 8 days following the procedure. Tranexamic acid could be used for other purposes that are not mentioned in this guideline.

Side effects of Cyklokapron

Seek medical attention immediately. If you are experiencing symptoms that indicate an allergy, such as symptoms of hives, breathing difficulties, or swelling of your lips, face, or tongue,

Cyklokapron may cause serious side effects. Do not use Cyklokapron, and contact your physician immediately if you experience:

  • Issues related to vision (including problems with color vision);
  • A feeling of lightheadedness that makes you feel like you're about to pass out.
  • A seizure;
  • Hard or painful urine; bloody urine;
  • Symptoms of signs of a stroke—sudden weakness or numbness (especially for one leg) or serious headache or slurred speech balance issues;
  • Indications that a blood clot has formed inside the lung, such as chest pain, a rapid breath, wheezing and rapid breathing, and coughing up blood or
  • Symptoms of a blood clot on your leg, like swelling, warmth, or redness on your leg or arm.

Common adverse reactions include:

  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea;
  • Dizziness, feeling light-headed;
  • Mild irritation or an itch that is mild or itching that is mild or not noticeable
  • Feeling unusually joyful.

Warnings

It is not recommended to take Cyklokapron in the event that you're color blind, if you are suffering from blood vessels in your eyes, or if you have ever suffered from an accident, stroke, blood clot, or bleeding within your brain.

Prior to use this drug

It is not recommended to use cyklokapron. If you have an allergy to tranexamic acids, or if you suffer from:

  • Issues with the retina's blood vessels.
  • Color blindness; or
  • A history of stroke or blood clots. An injury to your brain.

Speak to your doctor if you were ever diagnosed with:

  • Kidney disease;
  • A bladder or kidney infection; or
  • Leukemia.

How to take Cyklokapron?

Follow the directions on the prescription label and review all medication guides and instructions. Make sure you use the medicine precisely as directed. Cyklokapron is administered as an infusion into a vein prior to pulling your tooth. You might need to continue taking Cyklokapron for up to 8 days following the procedure.

The doctor who prescribes the medication will give you your first dose and instruct you on how to utilize the medication yourself. Take note of and follow the Instructions for Use that are included along with your medication. Consult your physician or pharmacist to clarify any instructions. Your vision could require testing when you use the drug tranexamic.

Keep this medicine at a cool, dry temperature. Make an injection only when you are ready to inject it. Each ampule or vial is only for use once. Dispose of it after one use, regardless of whether there's still a little medicine in it.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Contact your doctor for advice when you have missed a dose.

What happens if I overdose?

Get medical attention in an emergency or contact the Poison Help Line toll-free at 1-800-222-1222.

Overdose symptoms can include headaches or confusion, eye problems, nausea, diarrhea, and weakness or numbness. issues with balance or speech, and feeling lightheaded. feeling faint..

What should be avoided?

Avoid driving and other hazardous activities until you are aware of the effects Cyklokapron can have on your body. The way you react could be impaired.

Interaction with other drugs

Inform your physician of any other medications you are currently taking, particularly:

  • Any type of medication that is used to treat bleeding as well as a blood clot or
  • Factor IX Complex (Bebulin, Bebulin VH, Profilnine, and more).
