What is Cequa?

Cequa suppresses the immune system. Cequa increases tear production when inflammation has reduced it. Cequa can be used to treat dry eyes caused by inflammation. Cequa eye drops come in single-use, sterile vials that are free of preservatives.

Warnings

Please follow all directions found on your medication package or label. Inform your healthcare provider about your medical conditions and allergies. Inform them which medications you're currently taking.

Before you take this drug

Cequa should not be used if you have an allergy to cyclosporine. Inform your doctor immediately if you become pregnant or nursing. Cequa cannot be used by anyone under the age of 16.

How to take Cequa?

Cequa eyedrops should be used exactly as prescribed by your physician. Read all the instructions and directions included on the prescription label. Use the medication every 12 hours. Remove contact lenses first. Before using eye medications, wash your hands. Applying eye drops requires only tilting back your head and pulling down on your lower eyelid, then squeeze some drops from a dropper directly over each eye and close them for at least 1 or 2 minutes before opening them back up again.

Only use the prescribed number of drops. Use artificial tears for at least 15 minutes after inserting your contact lenses. Avoid touching or placing directly on your eye the tip of any dropper that might contain germs that could compromise vision, as doing so could potentially cause serious vision impairment. Cequa eyedrops should be colourless and clear. Each bottle can only be used once (in both of your eyes). After one use, throw away the bottle, even if it still contains medicine. Store at room temperature. Keep the cédula vials in the original foil pouch.

Adult dose for keratoconjunctivitis:

One drop in each eye, approximately 12 hours apart, 2 times per day

What happens if i miss the dose?

If you are almost due for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Never take two doses of the same medicine at once.

What happens if i overdose?

Overdoses of cequa are not dangerous.should anyone accidentally consume medication, seek emergency medical treatment immediately or call poison help immediately at 1-800-222-1222.

What should be avoided?

If you suffer from dry eyes, it may be better to avoid wearing contact lenses. Speak to your doctor about the risks you face.

Side effects of Cequa

If you experience symptoms indicative of an allergic reaction such as hives, difficulty breathing and swelling of lips, face, tongue or throat it is imperative that emergency medical assistance be sought immediately. If you experience any of the following symptoms, stop using cequa immediately and contact your doctor.

  • After putting the drops in, you may experience severe pain, burning, or stinging.
  • Swollen eyelids;
  • Signs of eye infection: swelling, redness, severe discomfort, crusting or drainage.

Cequa may cause side effects such as:

  • Mild eye irritation, such as mild redness or pain;
  • Watery eyes
  • Blurred vision
  • Feeling like there is something in your eye

Interaction with other drug

Other drugs that you take are unlikely to affect the medicine used on your eyes. Many drugs interact with each other. Inform your healthcare provider of all of the medications you take, such as prescription and over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, and herbal remedies.
