What is Calamine Plain?

Calamine plain is an anti-itch medication that works by cooling your skin as it evaporates. Calamine Plain can also be used to dry out minor skin irritations that are oozing. Calamine Plain Topical (for the Skin) is used for treating itching, skin irritation, and sunburn caused by eczema or measles. Calamine plain topical can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of Calamine Plain

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of your lips, face, tongue, or throat.

Calamine Plain can cause serious side effects. If you experience:

Before you take this drug

If you have an allergy to Calamine Plain, it is best not to use the topical. If you suffer from any other medical condition, including allergies, ask your doctor or pharmacist whether it's safe to use Calamine Plain. Calamine Plain Topical is not known to harm an unborn child. If you are pregnant, do not take this medicine without consulting your doctor. Calamine topical does not pass into breast milk. It is also unknown if the medicine could harm a baby who is nursing. If you are breastfeeding a child, do not take this medication without first consulting with a healthcare provider.

How to take Calamine Plain?

Do not exceed the recommended dosage or duration. Use the recommended dose and do not exceed it. Wash the skin thoroughly with soap and warm water before applying Calamine Plain topical. Let the skin dry completely. Before each use, shake the Calamine Plain Lotion well. Calamine plain topical can be applied directly to your skin. Rub it in gently and allow the medicine to dry.Use a cotton swab to apply medicine. After applying the medication, wash your hands with soap or water. Calamine Plain may dry to a thin film. Calamine Plain may stain any fabrics that come into contact with it. If your symptoms don't improve within 7 days, or if they clear and come back again, call your doctor. Store away from moisture or heat. Store at room temperature, away from moisture and heat.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Calamine Plain can be used as needed, and you don't need to follow a schedule. If you have a regular schedule, you should apply the missed dose immediately. If your scheduled dosage is close, forgoing this one would not be prudent. You should not take extra medicine to compensate for a missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

Overdoses of calamine are not considered dangerous. If anyone accidentally swallows the medication, seek emergency medical care or call Poison Help at 1-800-222-1222.

What should be avoided?

Calamine plain topical is not to be taken by mouth. Calamine plain topical should only be used on the skin. Rinse with water if Calamine Plain Plain comes into contact with your eyes, nose, or mouth. Do not use other medications to treat the same area as Calamine Plain unless you have been told by your doctor.

Interaction with other drug

Calamine plain applied topically is unlikely to be affected by other drugs taken orally or injected. Many drugs interact with each other. Inform healthcare providers of any medicines you take, including prescription, over-the-counter and herbal products.
