What is Sildenafil?

Sildenafil

is a relaxing agent that relaxes the muscles of blood vessels. It also improves blood flow to specific regions of the body.Sildenafil, marketed under the name Viagra, is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (impotence) in males.

Another sildenafil-based brand is Revatio, which serves to manage hypertension of the pulmonary arterial system and increase endurance in both women.Take care not to take Viagra in conjunction with Revatio.

Warnings

Don't take sildenafil if you're also taking the nitrate medicine to treat chest discomfort or other heart conditions such as nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate, isosorbide mononitrate, and other recreational drugs, such as "poppers. Sildenafil taken in conjunction with a nitrate medication could result in an unexpected and severe drop in blood pressure.

Certain medicines may cause undesirable or harmful consequences when taken together with sildenafil. Tell your doctor about your current medications, particularly riociguat (Adempas). Don't take sildenafil when you are taking riociguat.

Consult your physician or seek urgent medical attention if you notice that your erection feels painful or lasts more than four hours. An extended erection (priapism) could cause damage to the penis.Stop taking sildenafil and seek emergency medical attention in the event of a sudden loss of vision.

Before you Take this Drug

It is not recommended to use sildenafil if you have an allergy to it or

• If you're taking other medications to treat hypertension in the pulmonary artery, like Riociguat (Adempas).

Don't take this medication in conjunction with nitrate drugs to treat chest discomfort or other heart conditions. This includes nitroglycerin (nitric oxide), isosorbide dinitrate, and isosorbide mononitrate. Nitrates also occur in recreational drugs like amyl nitrate and nitrite ("poppers"). When you take sildenafil in conjunction with a nitrate-based medicine, it could cause a drastic and sudden drop in blood pressure.

To ensure that sildenafil is suitable for you, inform your doctor if you have previously had:

• Heart issues (chest pain, irregular heartbeat, heart attack);

• Excessive blood pressure or lower blood pressure;

• Problems with blood circulation;

• Retinitis pigmentosa (a genetic condition that affects the eyes);

• Blindness of either or both eyes.

• Bleeding issues;

• An stomach ulcer;

• The pulmonary veno-occlusive disorder (PVOD);

• Kidney or liver disease;

• An illness of the blood cells, like sickle cell anemia, myeloma, leukemia or sickle cell anemia.

• A physical defect in the penis (such as the condition known as Peyronie's disease) or

• If you've been told not to be sexually active due to health reasons,

Sildenafil may reduce blood flow to the optic nerve in the eye, leading to an abrupt loss of vision. It has happened to a small percentage of patients taking sildenafil. The majority of whom also suffered from diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or certain eye diseases, were already present smokers, or were more than 50 years old. It's unclear if this medication is the real reason for the loss of vision.It is not believed to harm the unborn baby. Inform your doctor if you are expecting or planning to be pregnant. Women suffering from hypertension of the pulmonary arterial system must take sildenafil for a minimum of 6 months before consulting with their physician.

It is not clear if sildenafil is absorbed into breast milk or if it is harmful to nursing babies. Consult your physician if you are breastfeeding a baby. Patients suffering from hypertension of the pulmonary artery should not discontinue taking sildenafil unless they talk with their physician.Don't give the medicine to anyone younger than 18 years of age without medical assistance.

How to take Sildenafil?

Sildenafil should be taken exactly as prescribed. Follow the instructions on the prescription label and go through all the medication guides or instruction sheets.Revatio is generally used three times per day, approximately 4 to 6 hours apart.

Viagra is typically taken in the event of need, 30 minutes to an hour prior to sexual activity. It can be taken for up to four hours prior to sexual activities. Don't use Viagra more than once each day.

Make sure to shake off your oral suspension (liquid) prior to determining the dosage. Utilize the dosing syringe that comes with it or a dosage-measuring device (not the kitchen spoon).Viagra helps you get an erection whenever sexual stimulation takes place. It is not possible to get an erection only by taking the pill. Follow the directions of your doctor.

If during sexual activity you feel nauseated or dizzy or feel discomfort, numbness, or tingling sensations in your arms, chest, neck, or jaw, call your doctor immediately. It is possible that you have an adverse reaction to sildenafil.Place it in a cool, dry place far from heat and moisture.

What Happens if I Miss a Dose?

Because Viagra is prescribed as needed, it is not a risk to take a dose that you don't need.

If you do not take the dose of Revatio, then take it immediately, and do not take any missed doses if it's close to the time for the next dose. Don't take two doses at the same time.

What Should be Avoided?

Sildenafil in combination with alcohol may result in adverse effects.Grapefruit can interact with sildenafil and can lead to undesirable negative side effects. Do not use grapefruit-related products.

Avoid taking any other medications to treat impotence, like alprostadil and yohimbine, without talking with your physician.

Side effects Of Sildenafil

Get immediate medical attention. If you are experiencing symptoms that indicate you are experiencing an allergic reaction to sildenafil, itching, breathing problems, and swelling of your lips, tongue, throat, or face.

Take sildenafil off your prescription and seek urgent medical assistance if you are suffering from:

• Heart attack symptoms: chest pressure or pain that is spreading to your shoulder or jaw; nausea; sweating;

• Vision changes or sudden vision loss;

• Erections are painful or last for more than 4 hours (prolonged sexual activity can cause damage to the penis).

• Ears ringing or an abrupt loss of your hearing

• Irregular heartbeats;

• Swelling in your ankles, hands, or feet;

• Breathlessness;

• Seizure (convulsions);

• A feeling of lightheadedness, as if you're going to faint.

Common sildenafil side effects include:

• Flushing (warmth of redness or tingly sensation);

• Headache, dizziness;

• Nausea, heartburn, or stomach upset.

• Anomaly perception (blurred vision, shifts to color)

• Nasal stuffiness, runny nose, or nosebleeds;

• Sleep problems (insomnia);

• Muscle pain, back pain

Interaction with Other Drugs

Don't take sildenafil in conjunction with similar medications like Avanafil (Stendra), Tadalafil (Cialis), or Vardenafil (Levitra). Inform your doctor of any other medications you take to treat erectile dysfunction.Don't take sildenafil if you use other medications to treat hypertension in the pulmonary artery, for example, riociguat (Adempas).

Additionally, inform your doctor about all of your other medications, including:

• Medications used to manage high blood pressure and prostate disorder

• Antifungal medicine: ketoconazole or itraconazole;

• Medication to treat HIV/AIDS The treatment includes ritonavir and other drugs.
