What is Vanatab DM?

Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant that alters the neurons in the brain to stimulate the cough reflex. Guaifenesin can be described as an expectorant that eases congestion in the throat and chest. Phenylephrine Phenylephrine is a decongestant that shrinks blood vessels within the nasal passages.vanatab DM is a combination medication that treats congestion, cough, and chest congestion caused by allergies, a typical cold, as well as an illness called the flu.

  • Severe nausea or vomiting;
  • Extreme headache blurred vision; pain in your neck or in your ears;
  • The breathing becomes slow or
  • Unexpected shifts in behavior or mood.

Common negative consequences of the vanatab DM could include:

  • Diarrhea, constipation;
  • Dizziness, drowsiness;
  • Sleep problems (insomnia);
  • Experiencing anxiety, agitation, or even being irritable.

Warnings

Do not take this medication when you've had an MAO inhibitor within the past 14 days, for example, isocarboxazid or linezolid, rasagiline, selegiline, and tranylcypromine.

Before you take this drug

This medication is used if you have an allergy to dextromethorphan, guaifenesin, or the hormone phenylephrine.

Do not take this medication. If you've previously had an MAO inhibitor in the last 14 days, A drug interaction that is dangerous may occur. MAO inhibitors are isocarboxazid linezolid, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, and tranylcypromine.

Consult your doctor or pharmacist for a recommendation on whether this medication is safe to use if:

  • Heart disease, high blood pressure;
  • Diabetes;
  • An thyroid disorder;
  • Problems with urination;
  • Glaucoma;
  • Epilepsy or any other seizures;
  • Pheochromocytoma (an adrenal gland tumor);
  • Mucus-filled cough or cough that is caused by Emphysema as well as chronic bronchitis.

The medicine could contain phenylalanine. Make sure to read the label on the medicine if you suffer from phenylketonuria (PKU).Talk to your doctor prior to taking this medication if you are nursing or pregnant.

How to take Vanatab DM?

Take exactly as indicated on the label or as directed by your physician. The cold or cough medicines are intended for use only in the short term, until symptoms improve.

Use the syringe for dosing or a dosage measuring device (not an ordinary spoon).Drink plenty of fluids to alleviate congestion and to lubricate your throat while taking this medication.Consult your doctor if symptoms don't get better within 7 days or if you experience symptoms such as a high fever, rash, or headaches.

If you require an operation or tests for medical reasons, notify the doctor or surgeon prior to the time of your appointment if you have taken this medication in the last few days.Storage at room temperature is free of heat and moisture. Don't allow the liquid medicine to cool down.

What happens if I miss the dose?

Since cold or cough medicine is taken when necessary, you may not be following a dose schedule. Don't miss a dose when it's time to take the next dose. Do not take two doses at once.

What should be avoided?

Avoid driving or engaging in hazardous activities until you understand the effects of this medication on your body. The way you react could be affected.Alcohol consumption can cause an increase in the effects of this drug.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist prior to using any other cold or cough medicines that contain similar components.

Interaction with other drug

Do not take vanatab DM when you are taking other medications that result in drowsiness or slow breathing (such as opioids, a muscle relaxer, or medication used to manage anxiety and seizures). Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking any other medications, such as prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
