What is Vagistat-1?
Tioconazole is an antifungal medicine that combats the effects of the fungus.Vagistat-1 (for use in the vagina) is a treatment for vaginal Candida (yeast) infections.Vagistat-1 is also used for different purposes not covered in this guideline.
Side effects of Vagistat-1

Before you take this drug

How to take Vagistat-1?

This medication is typically administered in one dose. There should be a slight improvement in your symptoms following the one-day treatment. It could take up to 7 days after taking the dose for a day before your symptoms disappear completely.
Contact your physician if your symptoms don't improve after three days or if you continue to experience symptoms for more than seven days. Infrequent vaginal yeast infections that are not cured with treatment could be an indication that you have a serious problem.The applicator for single-use is intended only for one usage. Dispose of the applicator after a single use, regardless of whether there is still some medication left within it following the insertion of the dose.
Vagistat-1 has mineral oils, also known as petrolatum, which may affect the latex rubber used inside a diaphragm or condom. These kinds of contraceptives could be less effective if used in conjunction with this medication. You should use a different method of birth control when you're taking tioconazole for a minimum of 3 days following the end of your treatment.Keep it at room temperature, far from heat and moisture. Do not heat the applicator prior to using Vagistat-1.
What happens if I miss the dose?
Because Vagistat-1 is one dose, it doesn't require a daily dose schedule.
What happens if I overdose?
Because Vagistat-1 is taken as a single dose using an applicator that is prefilled An overdose is highly unlikely to occur.
What should be avoided?
Avoid wearing tight-fitting synthetic clothing like pantyhose or nylon underwear, which do not permit air circulation. Wear loose-fitting clothing that is made of cotton or various other fibers that are natural until the inflammation is gone.
Don't use a vaginal douche, spermicide, or any other vaginal product while you're taking Vagistat-1. Avoid vaginal sexual contact while you are taking treatment.
Interaction with other drugs
It's unlikely that other drugs you consume orally will affect vaginal tioconazole. However, many drugs interact with each other. Be sure to inform your health care providers about the medications you take, including medications that are prescribed and available over the counter, vitamins, and herbs.
