What is Talazoparib?

Talazoparib is used in adult patients to treat certain types of breast cancer that may have spread to various regions of the body.Your doctor will ensure that you have the right cancer type that can be treated with talazoparib. Talazoparib is also used for reasons not mentioned in this medication guide.

Side effects of Talazoparib

See a doctor immediately. Get medical attention immediately if you notice warning signs of an allergic response, such as symptoms of hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of your lips, tongue, throat, or face.

Talazoparib may cause serious side effects. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience:

  • The presence of blood in your urine or stools
  • Easily bleeding, unusual appearance of red or purple spots on the skin
  • Weight loss;
  • Fequently infected;
  • Red blood cells are low (anemia)—pale skin weakening, tiredness—being lightheaded or tired, cold hands and feet;
  • Low white blood cell count Low white blood cell counts high fever, mouth sores, wounds on the skin, sore throat, cough.

It is possible that your cancer treatment may be delayed or completely stopped in the event of certain adverse consequences.

Common side effects of talazoparib include:

  • Low blood cell count;
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite;
  • Hair loss;
  • Headache or
  • Feeling tired or weak.

Warnings

The use of talazoparib can increase the chance of developing bone marrow disorders and leukaemia. Talazoparib may lower your blood cell count, and you could contract bleeding or infections more frequently. Consult your physician if you are experiencing unusual bleeding or bruising, bloody urine or stool, weight loss, weakness, fever, fatigue, or difficulty breathing. Your blood is examined prior to and during treatment, and treatments could be delayed depending on the test results.

Before start taking this medicine

Inform your doctor if you have ever suffered from:

  • Kidney disease.

The use of talazoparib can increase the chances of developing bone marrow issues or leukemia. Consult your physician about the risk you face based on your personal situation. Talazoparib may harm an unborn baby if the father or mother is taking it.

  • If you're female, you may need a pregnancy test in order to make sure that you're not expecting. Make sure you use contraceptives when you take this medication and for at least 7 years following the last dose.
  • If you're male, use birth control when your sex partner is likely to become pregnant. Continue using birth control for a minimum of four months after the last dose.
  • Inform your doctor immediately when you notice a pregnancy.

It could be more difficult for you to become pregnant if you're taking this drug. However, you should utilise birth control to avoid pregnancy since the medication can cause harm to a baby who is not born.

Avoid breastfeeding during the course of this medication and at least a month after the last dose.

How to take Talazoparib?

Follow the directions on your prescription label and go through all medication guides or instruction sheets. The doctor might alter the dosage. Follow the medication precisely as prescribed. Talazoparib can be taken without or with food. Suck the capsule completely and don't break or dissolve it. If you vomit immediately after taking talazoparib, do not take a second dose. The next dose should be taken as per the schedule. Talazoparib is generally prescribed until the body no longer reacts to the medication.

There is a chance that you will contract bleeding or infections more frequently. The blood of your patients will be analysed in the course of treatment, and treatment for cancer may be delayed depending on the results. Keep at room temperature, away from heat and moisture. Do not alter your dosage or stop taking this medicine without consulting your physician.

Details on dosage

Usual Adult Dose for Breast Cancer:

1 mg taken orally every day up to the point of unacceptably toxic

Comments:
Choose patients based on the possibility of having germline BRCA mutations, as identified using an FDA-approved test.

Use: To treat adults suffering from deleterious or suspected germline BRCA-mutated (gBRCAm) localised HER2-negative cancers that are advanced or metastatic breast cancer.

What happens If I miss a dose?

Don't miss the dose you missed, and take your next dose at the normal time. Don't use two doses at once.

What should be avoided?

Follow the instructions of your physician regarding any restrictions on your food, drink, or activity.

Interaction with other drugs

Discuss with your doctor your other medications, including:

  • Amiodarone;
  • Carvedilol;
  • Clarithromycin;
  • Itraconazole;
