What is a Sonata?
It is also known as hypnotic. It can affect chemicals in the brain that are out of balance in people who have sleep issues (insomnia). Sonatas can be used to treat insomnia. Sonatas help you relax and fall asleep.
Warnings
Sonata can cause severe allergic reactions. If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergic response, stop taking this medication and seek emergency medical attention: hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of your lips, face, tongue, or throat. Sonata users have reported driving, eating, or making phone calls and then having no memory. Driving or walking while not fully awake could result in serious bodily harm or even death. Sonatas may cause side effects that can affect your ability to think or react. After taking Sonata, you may still feel sleepy in the morning.
You should not consume alcohol when taking this medication. Alcohol may produce drowsiness and other side effects. Zaleplon can be addictive. Store the medication out of reach of others. Misuse of this medication can cause addiction or overdose, especially in children or others who use it without a prescription.
If you suddenly stop taking the medication after several days of taking it, you may experience withdrawal symptoms. Sonata should not be stopped suddenly without consulting your doctor. It may be necessary to reduce the dosage before stopping the medication. Inform your physician of any drug or alcohol addictions you have had.
Before you take this drug
Sonata should not be used if Zaleplon is an allergen for you or if, in the past, you took sleep medication and did something you don't recall. Sonata cannot be used by anyone under the age of 18.
Inform your physician of any of the following issues to ensure that this medication is suitable for you:
- Liver or kidney disease
- A breathing disorder;
- Depression or thoughts of suicide;

How to take Sonata?

Usual Adult Dose for Insomnia:
Take 10 mg once daily, either before going to bed or after bedtime if the patient is having difficulty falling asleep.
Maximum dose: 20 mg/day

What happens if I miss the dose?
Sonata can be taken at night only, so you won't have to take it frequently. Do not take this medication before sleeping for several hours. Do not take more than one dose at the same time.
What happens if I overdose?
Call Poison Help at 1-800-222-1222 or seek emergency medical care. Zaleplon overdoses can be deadly, especially if taken with other drugs that cause drowsiness. Overdose symptoms include drowsiness or confusion, muscle weakness, shallow breathing, and fainting.
What should be avoided?
Sonata should not be taken during travel or to sleep in an airplane. You could be woken up before the effects have worn off. If you don't get a full night of sleep after taking Sonata, amnesia is more likely to occur. Don't drink alcohol. Side effects and death can occur. Take Sonata without food or after eating a heavy or high-fat meal. It will be harder for the body to absorb this medicine.
Zaleplon may cause side effects that can impair your reactions or thinking. The morning after taking this medication, you may still feel sleepy. Be cautious if you are driving, operating machinery, flying an airplane, or doing anything else that requires alertness and vigilance.
Side effects of Sonata

People who use this medication have been known to engage in activities while not fully awake, such as walking, driving, or making telephone calls. Stop taking Sonata immediately if this happens. You could suffer serious injury or even death if you drive or walk while not fully awake.
If you experience:
- Anxiety, depression, aggression, and agitation;
- Memory problems are unusual thoughts or behaviors.
- You may have thoughts about hurting yourself.
- Hallucinations, confusion (hearing things or seeing them)
Sonata may cause a variety of side effects.
- Day-time drowsiness, dizziness, "hangover" feeling;
- Feeling light-headed
- Problems with coordination
- Feelings of numbness, tingling, or prickliness on the skin

Interaction with other drug
