Siltussin SA reduces chest congestion due to the common flu or chronic respiratory bronchitis. Siltussin SA is a cough suppressant that helps to loosen up congestion and allows you to cough through your mouth.
There are several brands and types of guaifenesin. This leaflet does not list all brands. Siltussin SA can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.
Side effects of Siltussin SA
If you experience any of the following signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical help immediately: difficulty breathing, hives, facial or throat swelling or difficulty swallowing.
Side effects of Siltussin SA include:

How to take Siltussin SA?
Follow the directions provided on your label or as provided by your physician. Cold and cough medicines are only to be used for a short time until symptoms have cleared up. Follow the directions on the label when giving cough medicine or cold medicine. Be careful when giving cough and cold medication to children as a sleep aid. Measuring liquid medicine is important. Use either the provided dosing device or dose-measuring tool (not spoon).
Siltussin SA Granules can be used by pouring the entire packet on your tongue. Swallow without chewing. If your symptoms do not improve within 7 days or you experience fever, rash, or headache, seek medical advice immediately. Siltussin SA may affect certain medical tests. Inform any doctor that you use Siltussin SA. Store away from moisture or heat at room temperature. Store at room temperature, away from moisture and heat sources.
What happens if I miss the dose?
Your cough and cold medications may not have a set schedule; rather, they may only be taken when necessary. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip any missed dose. Never take two doses in one go.

What should be avoided?
Before using any other cold or cough medicines, be sure to ask your physician or pharmacist whether the ingredients match up.
Siltussin SA can affect your reactions. Stay away from driving and other potentially hazardous activities until you know their effects on you. You may be unable to react properly.
Interaction with other drug
This medicine should not be taken with any other medications that may cause sleepiness or reduce your breathing rate (such as opioids, muscle relaxers, or medicines for anxiety or seizures).
