What is Rythmol SR?

Rythmol SR affects your heartbeat. Rythmol SR can be used to treat serious heart rhythm disorders. Rythmol SR can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of Rythmol SR

If you experience any of the following signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction: difficulty breathing, hives or swelling to your face, lips or throat - seek medical help immediately! Rythmol SR can cause an abnormal heartbeat. If you experience rapid or pounding pulses, fluttering of the chest, shortness of breath, or sudden dizziness, you should call your doctor immediately.

Call your doctor immediately if you:

  • Shortness of breath even with mild exercise
  • Are your arms or legs swelling up?
  • Sudden weight gain;
  • Sore throat.

Rythmol SR can cause the following side effects:

  • Heartbeat irregularities;
  • Nausea, vomiting, constipation;
  • Headache, dizziness, tiredness,
  • Unusual or unpleasant taste in the mouth

Warnings

Rythmol SR should not be used if you suffer from heart failure or other conditions such as Brugada syndrome, sick sinus syndrome (without a pacemaker), severe low blood pressure, or very slow heartbeats. Rythmol SR can cause an abnormal heartbeat. If you experience a fast or pounding pulse, chest fluttering, sudden dizziness, shortness of breath, or sudden numbness, call your doctor immediately.

Before you take this drug

Rythmol SR should not be used if:

  • If you've recently suffered a heart attack or heart failure,
  • A genetic heart disorder called Brugada syndrome
  • A serious heart condition, such as "sick-sinus syndrome" or an "AV block", (unless you already have a pacemaker);
  • You may have fainted due to low blood pressure or a history of slow heartbeats.
  • A severe or uncontrolled imbalance in electrolytes;
  • Shortness of breath or wheezing

Do not hesitate to consult your physician regarding any of the following issues:

  • A breathing disorder;
  • Liver or kidney disease
  • Lupus;
  • Myasthenia gravis;
  • An antinuclear antibody test (ana) is a blood test that shows abnormal results.

Inform your doctor if there is a pacemaker, defibrillator, or other device. You may need to re-program these devices while taking Rythmol SR. Inform your doctor immediately if you become pregnant or breastfeeding. Rythmol SR may interfere with male fertility; for more information about this matter please speak with your healthcare provider.

How to take Rythmol SR?

Read and follow all instructions that accompany your medication, even if your physician changes its dose. It's essential that you take all prescribed doses without exception or delay. Rythmol SR may be taken either with or without food. This medication may cause very low blood pressure. If you have extreme thirst or loss of appetite or are experiencing nausea or diarrhea, call your doctor. You may require frequent blood tests. Before and during the treatment with Rythmol, your heart function will need to be monitored with an ECG or electrocardiograph (also called an EKG). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. When not in use, keep the bottle tightly shut.

What happens if I miss the dose?

If you are almost due for your next dose, skip the missed one. Never take two doses of the same medicine at once.

What happens if I overdose?

Call 1-800-222-1222 for poison help or seek immediate medical attention.

What should be avoided?

Grapefruit can cause unwanted side effects when combined with Rythmol SR. Avoid using grapefruit products.

Interaction with other drug

There may be risks involved when taking different medicines at once.Taking certain drugs together can cause side effects and/or make other medications less effective. Rythmol SR may cause a serious problem with your heart if you are also taking certain other medications for asthma, infections, heart problems, or high blood pressure. You could be at greater risk if you have depression, mental illness, or cancer. Rythmol SR can be affected by many drugs. These include prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.This list does not represent all possible interactions.
