What is Robitussin Nighttime Nasal Relief?

Acetaminophen relieves pain and lowers the fever. Chlorpheniramine reduces the effects that histamine has on the body. Histamine may cause symptoms such as sneezing, itching, and watery eyes. Phenylephrine shrinks the blood vessels of the nasal passages. Dilated blood vessels can cause congestion in the nasal passages. Robitussin nighttime nasal relief is a combination medication used to treat headaches and other symptoms such as fever, body pains, sneezing or stuffy noses, itching, watery eyelids, sinus congestion, and itchiness caused by allergies or the cold. Side effects of Robitussin Nighttime Nasal Relief

If you experience any of the following signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction: hives, difficulty breathing and/or swelling in your face, lips or throat - seek medical care immediately! Acetaminophen can cause severe skin reactions that are fatal. This may happen even if you've taken it before and never had a reaction. Call your doctor immediately if you experience skin redness, blistering, or peeling.

This medicine can cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • Chest pain, rapid pulse, or fast heart rate
  • Confusion, hallucinations and severe nervousness can all be symptoms of confusion.
  • Tremor, seizure (convulsions);
  • Easy bruising, bleeding, or unusual weakness
  • Little or no urinating is acceptable.
  • Nausea: pain in the upper stomach, itching, and loss of appetite. Dark urine and clay-colored stools. Jaundice: yellowing of your skin, eyes, or lips.
  • High blood pressure is dangerous (headache, anxiety, buzzing in the ears, chest pain, shortness of breath, and seizures).

In older adults, side effects like dryness of the mouth and constipation may be more common.

Robitussin Nasal Night Relief side effects may include:

  • Dizziness, drowsiness;
  • Blurred vision and mild headaches;
  • Dry mouth, nose, or throat
  • Constipation;
  • Feeling nervous or jittery?
  • Sleep problems (insomnia);

Warnings

If you've taken an MAO-inhibitor in the last 14 days (such as isocarboxazid or linezolid), do not take this medication. Don't take more than recommended. An acetaminophen overdose can cause liver damage or death. Acetaminophen can cause severe skin reactions in rare cases. If you notice skin redness, rash, blistering or peeling while taking medicine, discontinue immediately and seek medical advice immediately.

Before you take this drug

This medication should not be used if you have an allergy to acetaminophen or chlorpheniramine. MAO inhibitors such as isocarboxazid (linezolid), phenelzine (rasagiline), selegiline (tranylcypromine), and rasagiline are not compatible with this medicine and could result in potentially serious drug interactions. For any other medical conditions or concerns, always ask your physician or pharmacist whether the medicine can be safely taken.

  • Asthma, or COPD, is coughing with mucus or coughing caused by smoking, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, or chronic bronchitis.
  • A blockage of the intestines or stomach;
  • Alcoholism or if you consume more than three alcoholic drinks per day.
  • Kidney disease
  • Heart disease or coronary heart disease.
  • Urination or prostate problems;
  • Glaucoma;
  • Diabetes;
  • Overactive thyroid
  • Pheochromocytoma
  • If you are currently taking potassium medication (Cytra Epiklor K-Lyte K-Phos Kaon Klor Con Polycitra Urocit K), take care when doing so.

Robitussin Nighttime Nasal Relief is not known to harm an unborn child. If you are pregnant, do not take this medication without consulting your doctor. This medication can pass into breastmilk and harm a nursing infant. Decongestants and antihistamines can also reduce breast milk production.If you are breastfeeding an infant, prior to using any medication for breastfeeding purposes it is wise to first speak with their healthcare provider and obtain clearance before making the decision to use this medicine on yourself.

How to take Robitussin Nighttime Nasal Relief?

Do not exceed the prescribed dose and duration. Take only as prescribed; do not go beyond it. Take this medication only until symptoms have cleared up completely, not beyond that timeframe. Be cautious not to exceed recommended doses - overdoses of Acetaminophen can result in liver damage or even fatality. Do not use an ordinary spoon or cup for measuring liquid medicines - instead use an official dose-measuring cup or spoon provided by your pharmacist if you do not own such devices yourself. Just drop one tablet of effervescent water tablets into at least 4 ounces / half cup water and stir before drinking instantly. Children younger than four should never receive cough and cold medications without first consulting with a healthcare provider first, since even children as young as 4 can die due to improperly taking these medicines.

Do not take medication for more than seven days at once. Tell your doctor or surgeon immediately if you have taken this medicine within the past several days and require any form of testing or surgery, whether that involves medical testing or surgery itself. Store liquid medicines away from moisture or heat at room temperature to avoid freezing. They should not be frozen as this could render their effectiveness invalid.

What happens if I miss the dose?

You may not have a regular dosing regimen since Robitussin Nighttime Nasal Relief can be taken as needed. Take the missed dose immediately if you take the medication regularly.If your next scheduled dose is close, skip any missed ones and wait.You should not take more medicine to compensate for a missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

Call the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222 or seek emergency medical care. Acetaminophen overdoses can be deadly. Loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, sweating as well as confusion or weakness are the first signs. Other symptoms could include dark urine and yellowing skin or whites of the eyes.

What should be avoided?

Before using any other pain reliever, allergy medicine, or sleep medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Many combination medications contain acetaminophen, also known as APAP. Taking some products together may cause an overdose of acetaminophen, which could be fatal. Avoid alcohol. Alcohol can cause liver damage and increase the side effects of chlorpheniramine. This medicine can cause blurred or impaired vision or affect your thinking and reactions. You should be careful when driving or doing anything else that requires you to be alert and to see clearly.
