Before you take this drug
If you've ever experienced an allergic reaction, especially to aspirin and other salicylates, ask your doctor or pharmacist whether methyl salicylate is safe for use. This medicine should not be used on children without consulting a doctor.
How to take Methyl salicylate topical?
Follow the instructions on the packaging or those prescribed by your physician. Take it only by mouth. Topical medicines are only to be used on the skin. Only apply to dry, clean skin. Apply only to clean and dry skin. Avoid applying to open wounds, blisters, or skin that is sunburnt, windburned, or otherwise inflamed. This medicine is only for young children. Be sure to follow all instructions when administering this medication. Rub a thin coating of the medicine into the area that is painful. Then, apply the patch to the painful area and press on the edges. After removing the skin patch, apply another one according to the instructions. Before each use, shake the spray thoroughly. After applying the medicine or touching a patch, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water. Apply the medicine using a cotton ball or a clean tissue if you don't want it to get on your finger. Wait at least 30 minutes after applying medication to an area on your fingers or hands before washing your hands with soap and water. Avoid covering the affected area with bandages or heating pads. If your symptoms worsen or improve and return in just a few more days, you should stop using the medicine. Keep away from heat and moisture.
What happens if I miss the dose?
Topical methyl salicylate is applied when necessary. You should not take any doses if you have a regular schedule. Never use more than one dose at a time.

What should be avoided?
Do not get methyl salicylate in your eye. Rinse with water if you do come into contact. Avoid getting medicine into your mouth, nose, vagina, rectum, or rectum.
