
What is Rixubis?
Rixubis can be used to treat or stop bleeding in people who have hemophilia A. This medication should not be used to treat people with hemophilia B factor 8 deficiency. This medication guide does not list all possible uses of Rixubis.
Side effects of Rixubis
If you experience any of the following: hives, itching, wheezing, tightness in the chest, difficulty breathing, blue lips, feeling as if you may pass out, swelling on your face, lips, or tongue, or swelling of your throat, face, lips, and/or tongue,
Rixubis can cause serious side effects. If you experience:

Weight gain is swelling of the hands, lower legs, and waist.

Loss of appetite
-
A fever or chills
-
Continued bleeding after treatment
-
New or worsening bleeding
-
Signs of excessive blood clotting include sudden numbness, weakness, or slurred or slurred speaking; difficulty with vision, balance, or breathing; chest pains; blood in the cough; or swelling; pain, heat, and redness on one or both legs.
Rixubis can cause the following side effects:

Nausea;

Headache;
-
Dizziness;
-
Changed sense of taste
-
Mild skin rash;
-
Pain, redness or irritation at the injection site.

Warnings
Please carefully follow all of the directions found on the label or package of your medication, and make an appointment to consult your healthcare provider regarding any medical conditions, allergies or medicines you are currently taking.
Before you take this drug
Rixubis should not be used if you:

You have an allergy to the clotting factor medication.

You have signs of excessive bleeding.

You are allergic to the hamster protein.
Inform your physician of any of the following issues:

Kidney disease
-
Liver disease
-
Coronary arterial disease or hardening of the arteries
-
A stroke or heart attack
Inform your doctor immediately if you become pregnant or nursing.
Rixubis, which is made of donated plasma from humans, may contain viruses and other infectious agents. Plasma is treated and tested to reduce the chance of contamination. However, there is a very small risk that it may transmit a disease. You should ask your doctor if there are any risks.
How to take Rixubis?
Read all the instructions or guides that come with your medication and follow the directions. Sometimes, your doctor will change the dose.Take the medication exactly as instructed. Your first dose may be administered in a hospital setting or clinic to treat any serious side effects. Rixubis can be given by infusion directly into the vein. Your healthcare provider may give you your first dose and teach you how to use the medication properly. Please read and follow all instructions for use that come with your medication. If you don't understand the instructions, seek help from either your physician or pharmacist. Before using Rixubis, it must be mixed with a liquid. If you are using injections on your own, make sure that you know how to mix and store them.
The mixture should be clear, yellow, or colorless. Only prepare an injection when it's time for administration.If the medicine is cloudy, has changed color, or contains particles, do not use it. For new medicine, call your pharmacist. Do not shake or stir the medicine. You may ruin it. Do not use the injection for 3 hours after mixing. Blood tests may be required frequently. Wear or carry medical identification in case of an emergency to let others know that you have a bleeding disorder. Follow the instructions on the label of your medicine about how to store powder medicine and diluent. Some forms of coagulation factor VIII may be stored at room temperature. Others should be kept chilled. Do not freeze. Do not expose the medication to sunlight. Each vial is only for one-time use. After one use, throw it out, even if the medicine is still inside. Rixubis should be thrown away after the date of expiration has passed. Only use a needle or syringe once, and then store them in an "as sharps" container that is puncture-proof. Be sure to follow local or state laws on how to properly dispose of the container.Keep the container away from pets and children to protect its contents.
What happens if I miss the dose?
If you miss a dosage, call your doctor to get instructions.
What happens if I overdose?

What should be avoided?
If your doctor prescribes any restrictions regarding food, beverage, or activity, follow their instructions.
Interaction with other drug
Rixubis can be affected by other drugs, such as prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Inform your doctor of all the medicines you are taking and those that you stop or start using.
