What is Ramucirumab?

Ramucirumab can be used to treat stomach carcinoma or colorectal tumors. It is also used to treat non-small-cell lung cancer. Ramucirumab can be used alone or with other cancer medications.Ramucirumab can be used after other treatments fail.Ramucirumab can be used in other ways not mentioned in this guide.

Side effects of Ramucirumab

If you experience any of the following symptoms of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention: difficulty breathing, hives, swelling of the face, lips, or throat.Some side effects can occur during the injection. You should tell your caregiver if you experience any of the following: lightheadedness, sweating, chest pain, chest tension, back discomfort, or difficulty breathing.Ramucirumab increases your risk of bleeding.

Ramucirumab may cause serious side effects. If you experience:

  • Signs of stomach bleeding include severe stomach pain, bloody stools or tarry stools, bloody vomit, or bloody phlegm.
  • Any wound that does not heal
  • Headache, confusion, altered mental status, vision loss and seizure (convulsions); these can all be symptoms of headache.
  • Severe or persistent nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
  • Rapid weight gain in the face and midsection, especially
  • Low white blood cell count: fever; mouth sores or skin sores; sore neck; cough.
  • Kidney problems: puffy eyes, swelling of the ankles and feet, weight gain, or urine that is foamy.
  • Blood clot symptoms include sudden numbness, weakness, headaches, difficulty with balance or vision, or slurred or shaky speech.
  • Heart attack symptoms: chest pain or pressure spreading to your jaw and shoulders; nausea.

Ramucirumab can cause a number of side effects.

  • Dry Mouth, Bad Breath, Alternate Sense of Taste
  • Feeling tired or weak
  • Diarrhea, loss of appetite
  • Nosebleed;
  • Low white blood cell count;
  • High blood pressure.

Warnings

Ramucirumab increases your risk of bleeding. If you experience severe stomach pain, have bloody or tarry stool, are coughing blood, or are experiencing heavy or unusual bleeding, stop using ramucirumab immediately and contact your doctor.

Before you take this drug

If you are allergic to Ramucirumab or have previously taken it and had adverse reactions, contact your healthcare provider immediately.

  • Uncontrolled high blood tension

Inform your physician of any of the following issues:

  • High blood pressure
  • A thyroid disorder,
  • An unhealed incision after recent surgery.

This medicine may harm an unborn child. If you plan to get pregnant or are already pregnant, tell your doctor. Ramucirumab can affect fertility.Prevent pregnancy by using birth control during your treatment with ramucirumab and for 3 months following the end of treatment.Breastfeeding women must not use this medicine.

How to take ramucirumab?

Ramucirumab can be infused into a vein. This injection will be given by a healthcare provider.While you receive ramucirumab, you may be prescribed medication to help prevent certain side effects.Ramucirumab can be given every two weeks. Ramucirumab can also be administered in a 21-day treatment cycle. You may only have to take the medication on the first day.Take care to adhere to your doctor's recommendations.You may be required to undergo frequent urine or blood tests while using ramucirumab. You will need to check your blood pressure often.Tell your surgeon if you plan to undergo surgery that you use ramucirumab.

What happens if I miss the dose?

If you are unable to attend your scheduled ramucirumab appointment, call your doctor.

What happens if I overdose?

Overdoses are unlikely because ramucirumab will be administered by a healthcare provider in a medical environment.

What should be avoided?

If your doctor prescribes any restrictions regarding food, beverage, or activity, follow their instructions.

Interaction with other drug

Ramucirumab can be affected by other drugs, such as vitamins and herbal remedies. Inform your doctor of all the medicines you are taking and those that you stop or start using.
