What is NovaFerrum 50?

NovaFerrum 50 is one of the forms of iron, a mineral. Iron is essential for a variety of processes in the body but is particularly important in the transport of oxygen into the blood. NovaFerrum 50 can be used to treat iron deficiency and anemia due to iron deficiency. NovaFerrum 50 should not be used as a dietary supplement for people who have normal levels of iron. NovaFerrum 50 could be used for other purposes not covered in this medication guide.

Side effects of NovaFerrum 50

See a doctor immediately. If you are experiencing symptoms that indicate an allergic reaction, such as hives, difficulty breathing, and swelling of your lips, face, or tongue,

Novaferrum 50 can result in serious side effects. Consult your physician immediately in the event that you experience:

  • Stool that is bloody, tarry, or
  • Extreme stomach cramps or stomach pain.

Common adverse consequences of novaferrum 50 could include:

  • Constipation, diarrhea;
  • Nausea, upset stomach;
  • Stool that is dark or black as well as
  • Temporary staining of teeth.

Warnings

It is not recommended to use NovaFerrum 50 when you suffer from hemochromatosis, hemosiderosis, or hemolytic anemia. Make sure to keep NovaFerrum 50 away from young children. In the event of an accidental overdose of iron by a child, it may cause death.

Before you take this drug

Do not consume novaferrum 50 in the event that you are suffering from:

  • Hemochromatosis;
  • Hemosiderosis, or
  • Hemolytic anemia.

Don't give the medication to a child unless you have medical guidance.

Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or pregnant. The dosage requirements for you may differ during pregnancy or during the time you breastfeed.

How to take NovaFerrum 50?

Use only as indicated on the label or as directed by your physician. Take NovaFerrum 50 with an empty stomach to get the best results. If stomach discomfort occurs, it is best to take the medication during a meal or just after eating. Make sure to measure the liquid medicine with care. Use the dosing needle provided or a dose-measuring device (not an ordinary spoon).

Take note of and follow the Instructions for Use that are included along with your medication. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor if you don't understand these directions. You'll need to take regular medical examinations.

Don't use NovaFerrum 50 for the treatment of iron deficiency anemia without consulting your physician. Everyone suffering from anemia should be under the supervision of a physician. Keep it at room temperature, free of heat and moisture. Make sure this medicine is out of a child's reach. In the event of an accidental overdose, iron could be fatal for children.

What happens if I miss the dose?

You should take the medication as quickly as you are able, but do not take any missed doses if you are close to the time of the next dose. Don't take two doses at a time.

What happens if I overdose?

Get medical attention immediately, or contact us for help at the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222. A high dose of NovaFerrum 50 can cause death, particularly for children.

The symptoms of an overdose can include diminished energy levels, a high fever, vomiting, stomach discomfort, tarry stool, a low pulse, a high heart rate, or seizures (convulsions).

What should be avoided?

At least 2 hours prior to or 2 hours following the time you take novaferrum 50, you should avoid:

  • Milk and other dairy products,
  • High-fiber food items (such as raw vegetables, whole grains such as bran, whole grains, and raw vegetables);
  • Coffee, tea;
  • Chocolate, or cola;
  • Energy drinks and other products that contain caffeine

Interaction with other drugs

Certain medications can make novaferrum 50 less effective when taken simultaneously. If you are taking any of the following medications, then take this medication dose two hours before or two hours after taking another medicine:

  • An antacid;
  • An anti-biotic;
  • Medication for treating those suffering from Parkinson's disease
  • Thyroid medication.
